Hi,
Has anyone experienced sudden increases in diastolic pressure?
Only happened during the last couple of days and so hoping it will settle back.
Normal reading is average 82, last two days more like 96.
Thanks
Mike

Get rid of your BP monitor
Hello,
My Cardiologist asked me record my blood pressure at home for 3 months.
I was surprised to find large fluctuations in my diastolic BP. Mine like yours ranged from 78 to 96.
My Cardiologist took the average readings over the 3 months.
Blood pressure UK has some useful guidance about how to measure your blood.

If you're worried perhaps have a discussion with your GP.
Give GP a ring if the Diastolic BP stays up or goes over the 96 for more than two well spaced readings (e.g. morning & night) as the GP's don't like it getting too high.
I have really high diastoylic BP normally. It's just a different form of high blood pressure & may need slightly different meds to control it than if only systolic BP is high.
There may also be other reasons for Diastolic BP to increase associated with a heart condition or new medication. Mine' currently occassionally spiking really high on a new heart med, when we'd got it sorted under BP meds.
Try not to worry too much, but do get back to your GP.
I'm the opposite. My systolic pressure goes up and down, but my diastolic pressure is low, usually in the 60s.
