Been a bit down.

Hi everyone well I’v really been struggling with my mood the last few days. I was in York hospital agin on Thursday with a UTI. I didn’t know that’s what it was till my urine sample came back. I was put on a short corse of antibiotics that I finished this morning. I was in A&E for 8 hours and got back home at 3am on fri. My head feels all over the place right now. Coping with my CHD is one thing but having COVID still around is just making everything so much harder. My heart Faillur nurse is coming on Monday and it will be good to talk to her

I do so wish you well.' Head all over the place' is awful. I have had it with Digoxin . I hope you have a supportive GP and hopefully family and friends.

Sorry to hear that, Tori. You have been going through it, and as you say everything is so much harder with all the Covid restrictions. It’s tough for so many people right now. We’ll just have to get through it... It’s always worth remembering the good things that are still there, even now. You have a good hospital near you, and your nurse is coming on Monday. It’s good to have someone who knows you and who knows what they are talking about, so hopefully you will have a good chat with her/him. I hope you can relax a bit at home now. Are the fish still doing well?

This is to buddy2blue - can't seem to get it in the right place!

There's no easy answer, as you are only too aware, but it is perfectly normal, and above all human, to feel the way you do, and good that you can be honest about the way you feel on this forum - very important to be able to do that. Most of us I'm sure don't want to burden our friends - I don't want to be defined by a health label as I am still me warts and all, and you definitely have a very distinctive personality. It's a bit of a safety valve and despite different conditions/diagnoses we all understand and share the anxieties and sometimes negative feelings. So pleased to hear you have such a good HF nurse, a big bonus and hope you will feel brighter after her visit. Let us know how you are feeling people genuinely care

I'm sorry to hear you haven't felt so good Tori. UTIs are nasty things and really drag you down. What do you like doing to cheer yourself up? I expect your fish tank looks lovely, does it help to look at them? I tried meditation when I was first diagnosed and I still do it. It makes me feel calmer. I hope you have a lovely chat with the heart failure nurse and that you feel calmer soon. Sending you a warm hug.🤗

Sorry you've been back in hospital. I get UTIs fairly frequently. They can be painful and send the old heartrate rate into freefall. Hope you can get some rest now you're home.

Hi Tori. I hope you're feeling a little better this morning. UTI's play havoc with the body and the mind so here's hoping the antibiotics have sorted that out. Hope the HF nurse helps to lift your mood. She sounds lovely.I think Pauline has summed up what we feel about you - brave and lovely. Thinking of you always and sending much love and virtual hugs your way.

Take care, Tori. UTIs are nasty little things. Hope you have a good chat with the nurse tomorrow. Give the fish a hug from all of us. On second thoughts, may be not... :)

Aw that’s rotten luck - I’ve had recurring UTIs and it’s very depressing, not to mention scary when things go ‘black’! Low moods are difficult to deal with these days but, you know, you always manage to sound bright and cheery even though you’re often up against it. Things will get better sweetheart, they really will and so will you. Your day will come. Love Sue 🙏

Hi Tori, so sorry to hear that you've had additional problems. Having a UTI will make you feel drained and down and then the antibiotics add to that wiped out feeling. This I know from experience. I hope this will soon pass and that you can have a good chat with the nurse on Monday. Having so little social contact in these Covid times does make everything harder, but this too will pass. Take heart that lots of us are thinking of you.;)

Hello, UTIs are horrible! I have found a supplement called D-Mannose really helpful and a NHS Urinary Consultant I ended up seeing really rated it but can’t prescribe it because it’s not a drug. It’s a sugar that has hooks on it which grab on to the hooks on ecoli bacteria that often cause UTIs. It’s available from high street supplements shops and of course on line too. I understand you may be cautious about taking things that aren’t prescribed but if UTIs are troublesome it may be worth exploring with your Dr/urinary consultant/cardio team.

Hope it clears up quickly and you feel better soon.

Hiya Tori, I hope by now the antibiotics have done their job and you're at least not having the 'fun' of a UTI. I used to get those and it didn't matter what I did to try to avoid them. Switching from plain water (or coffee or tea or fizzy drinks) to cranberry juice as something to sip (I don't recommend it with food, it makes things taste weird) helped a bit but in the end it was a complicated combination of 'lifestyle adjustments' that turned the tide and I finally stopped having a UTI every time I turned around.

After the worries of the unpleasant possibilities of heart conditions, I think the worst part is the roller coaster aspect - you feel better, you feel not as better, rinse repeat and blimey is that wearing!

Hi buddy2blue, hope you feel better after having a good old chat with your lovely hf nurse, these are not normal time’s, and it really does you good to talk face to face with another person, and have a bit of a moan, wishing you well 🙂🤗💐 xxx
