Me too, with 3 stents also.. I think I still live in denial :)) but mine was nearly a year ago now and once you get used to the meds you sort of don’t need to get used to it - you start to forget about it if you see what I mean - we are alive and life is good ... so my suggestion is.. don’t try to get used to it, just try to forget it, eat plenty of those carrots and use the event as a reminder to love life :::)))))

I'm 56, HA and 5 stents. Personally it's a life changer but as the previous respondant said, at least we're still here.

Enjoy living and do what you can, it's a once in a lifetime trip 👍

I hope at some point you will think that was my lucky warning. I had a bypass at 51 - completely out of the blue- couldn’t get my head around it for a while- then a friend had his 1st heart attack at 57 & didn’t survive. This really changed me to think at least I had the warning. You will find over time you rationalise it more & its on your mind less- but equally don’t think it’s wrong to take time getting used to it!

Also had a heart attack at 52 about 10 weeks ago with one stent fitted. Not sure I’ll ever be used to it and will always feel different but many of the differences are for the better. I’m treating it as a lucky escape and a second chance which sadly not everyone gets.

My entirely unexpected heart attack was 2year, 4 month since and if it wasn't for all the medication I still wouldn't believe it!

My HA was April last year 1 stent .

I know how you feel as I was a wreck emotionally for a few months after HA trying to come to terms with what had happened to me . I was supposedly a fit 63 year old ??? It was a shock . I think you need time to accept the massive health issue that has not happened to others but yourself.

I found CBT, family , breathing ,meditation he best help ever . Like others on here have said time is a great healer . I will

never forget the event but I am accepting of it now and everyday I feel so lucky to be alive and try and enjoy life to the full .

I’m sure you’ll get there ,little steps 😊x

Join the club; lots of us on here. Mine was 2 years ago now. The first 6 months were the worst with tablet side effects and the shock but it does get better. As the surgeon said to me when he fitted the stents "We've fixed the problem, you are better now than you were before . The rest is up to you". By that he meant smoking, diet, weight and exercise. I was lucky that the damage to my heart was minimal. I changed my diet and lost almost 2 stone. I assume by now you should have been contacted by a Rehab nurse even though cardiac rehab is not happening. They can at least give you exercises to do at home and advise on diet and the rest. You have been given your second chance. Make the most of it and enjoy your life.

Being in lockdown means that rehab had to be halted and it is so important. My confidence came back after the first time I attended. It’s so easy to worry about about every ache and pain and breathlessness which I now attribute to stress . Rehab really sorted me out and made me realise just how far I could go and that I wasn’t as fragile as I thought after triple bypass. I just hope rehab sessions return soon for all those people who feel stress after a major life event

I know this was 7 months ago but I just wanted to say that I had a massive heart attack in March I was told they nearly lost me I had one stent put in I am 67 I do a lot of walking and my diet is good have no one in the family who suffer from this so yer everyone was really shocked. I think for the whole of April I cried because of all the tablets I am on. Plus I couldn’t go to the 8 wk rehab because of the virus but I had a nurse call me every week for about 3 months. Then one morning I woke up I thought I have got to do a plan for myself because the nurse said I can only do 10 min walks no good for me so I started doing half hour walks but now I can do 7 miles I got used to the tablets now even though sometimes I get tired but I feel so much better and have accepted that I had the massive attack that I nearly died. Just enjoying my life thank God I am still here. ❤️
