Hello and welcome to the forum!
First some positive news. A friend's mother has a heart attack over 40 years ago and is still going strong in her mid-nineties. She was also diagnosed with Type II diabetes at the same time. There's no magic ingredient. She follows a basically Mediterranean diet, takes the prescribed medication and keeps mobile. At the moment she can't wait to resume her weekly visits to a NT property for a walk around followed by a cream tea (as I said basically a Mediterranean diet 😁).
Onto you. Does the pain disappear with you use GTN spray? If so report this to your GP as an anti-anginal like Isosorbide Mononitrate or Diltazem might be appropriate. Good luck and keep us updated.
Hi, stents can take ages to settle in and I've found I get pain from them (I'm up to 5 stents at the moment). I'd recommend using your gtn spray just to see if it's settling pain or angina. If the pain goes after you've used the spray, then you know it's angina. Hope this helps.
Thank you
Just an addition note about GTN Spray. A cardiac nurse told that if the spray works on chest pain it is not firm confirmation of angina, as it can ease indigestion and other pain, too as it opens the arteries and improves blood flow,
Hi. Your situation reminds me of me, December 2019 I had a heart attack which after 10 days I had stent but was told my 3 arteries are blocked but at the time only did one stent, and I was put on waiting list for angiogram to see how affected was my other two, after 6 months before getting my appointment for angiogram I started getting pains and had my second stent, and for 3rd they said it can be managed with pills, but now 6 months down the line, I'm feeling very breathless and most time I can't take deep breath as I feel my chest is tight most of the time. I suggest you ask your GP to send you for some stress tests and see what shows upon that. So you can take it from there.
I would definitely speak to your GP about the pain that you are experiencing. Stents are used to solve a problem, not create a new one. In the meantime try to remain positive and not worry about this. The situation should be resolvable.
I had stent fitted in April last year it took ages to settle down . I thought I was suffering another HA following HA and had a further 2a and e admissions . It was extreme anxiety and stent settling down. A lovely Dr gave me advice to use medication and breathing exercises it really helped to calm my anxiety .
Hope all goes well for you .
Thank you
Hi Albo , I was stented in nov 19 3 times and as a result every time I feel unusual or I have pain anywhere I think it’s connected to my heart , I think this is common for people who have gone thru this to automatically believe We are having heart issues and this actually makes it worse . If you are really unsure get your self checked out, for peace of mind, but live your life exercise eat heathy and it should all start to relax you it did for me !
Hello Albo,I had HA in early May and one sent fitted. I have had loads of twinges etc, still get them now and again, as some have said stents can take ages to settle, we are all different. I rang GP in Oct about this and was told to go to A&E by receptionist.. I did this the hosp did ECG blood pressure and all was well. A few weeks later (6months from HA) I paid for an Echo which was fine.
If your worried contact GP, good luck.
Whilst I was in A&E the staff couldn't be any better, I felt a fraud being there with everything going on at moment but they kept telling me I'd done right thing.
