High heart rate

My daughters heart rate has been 100 to 120 since she had her baby. I am worried but don’t want to worry her. Anyone had any experience of anything similar.

My first instinct is to ask whether she could be suffering from anaemia following the birth? Anaemia can cause the heart to work much harder in an effort to supply the body with enough oxygenated blood.

Our hearts will beat at up 100 beats per minute indefinitely. A resting heart rate of over 100 is an indication of a problem and needs investigating promptly. If left it can lead to ventricular heart failure.

Being a man, no. I have no experience of this 🙂If it was my daughter though, I'd advise her to call her GP, health worker (if she has one) or 111 to see what they think.

I am but I have to tread a careful line without frightening or annoying her and I have a health background.

Understood,Is there a way you could approach her GP to see if they would make contact with her? I'm sure you wouldn't be the first.

If she is anaemic this will cause a higher heart beat. This is not extremely high and is unlikely to cause any problem but the anaemia need treating urgently so that she feels able to look after her baby. She must feel exhausted. I had anaemia after my first birth and a high heart beat because of it. I could barely get through the day due to lack of energy. Try not to worry about her heart but she must get her anaemia treated right away and that is cause to go to the doctor and talk about the high heart rate too.

Thank you. I think I have persuaded her to talk to Gp. Her anaemia Us bring treated with iron tablets. She did feel very exhausted after all of it.
