Hi everyone hope everyone is safe during these difficult times I would just wish some people would take warnings of covid seriously especially in shops where there seems people do not keep distance and also cannot understand why there r long queues instead of having more cashiers during festive season I had three different members of my close family suffer from covid and still after three months they have breathing issues we all live far apart but from what they experienced and still are is not something I would like to get especially as they were healthy wishing my best to everyone keep safe

Sadly although BoJo trusts the public to do the right thing far too many are thick or believe rubbish conspiracy theories!

What really concerns me is we are introducing Tiers next week and then having five days relaxation. That's bonkers and definitely not listening to the science! Christmas can wait!

Agree totally with Michael of course Christmas can wait this year for once...some humans need to get a grip of themselves!

Totally agree with you Michael, keep safe.

Well after being in lockdown for so long the feeling is that many people will just “relax” and overdo the whole Christmas spirit . Too much booze and rich food isn’t going to help the immune system - especially for people like us who need to keep healthy. I find also distancing has been a farce and am forever dodging people who can’t or won’t measure 2 metres

Hi Pollypuss, I think, those who have a good share of the drinks will forget the rules (what rules). Take care.

I agree totally. I am amazed that there seems to be no condemnation of this stupid 5 days of freedom idea by either representatives of the opposition or anyone else. It clearly undermines all the efforts of the last few weeks and the new tier system. All I have heard from members of the public either directly or on the radio is that they are not going to meet up for Christmas, which just goes to show how utterly useless BoJo actually is. They STILL don't have a reliable track and trace system or any statistics to back up the actions they are taking. After listening to Matt Hancock this morning I am now convinced they are just a bunch of public Schoolboys floundering about in a mans world.

I think Boris made the five day rule of meeting other households because noone would have listened and would have met up and if someone says u can't do something they tend to do the opposite so now some of us will think twice about inviting members is it worth the risk because we have a choice

Your political comments are way off the mark and have no place on this forum. No matter who is in charge if the public do not heed medical or scientific advice then this pandemic will be here for a long time yet.

in reply to gilreid1

Your opinion, to which you are entitled, however, I think the OP has its roots in politics. Most people actually are adhering to the 2M rule, in fact I think the majority of the country are dealing with this crisis extremely well, given leadership which has been flawed from the outset. The forum serves as a community, and I don't think there are any rules that prohibit discussion of issues that are not directly related to heart disease, especially those that may have a greater effect on those that suffer from them. Maybe the rules would be even better followed if they had not been so disgracefully ignored by our supposed leaders, both sides of the border. I think you will find it is the government who are ignoring scientific advice in particular the latest blunder.

It only needs one person with the virus in a bubble of three families at Christmas to cause chaos in the new year. I am thinking if you throw a stone in a pond the ripples can continue till the whole pond is covered. Take care and keep safe. Ruth

Don't get me wrong I am not a denier but, the chance of catching the virus in a supermarket is very very slim according to the science I have seen, Everyone I have seen in a supermarket has been wearing a mask and the supermarket I use has always had gel available for any ones hands.

Lets face it IT is up to You.

Don't blame others when You can Move away to make the 2m. This virus has shown there is a lot of very bossy people out there, along with a lot of very good people.

Once again it's up to You, how You celebrate Christmas.

Just don't forget for a lot of older people this may be the last Christmas they have with friends or family. A little tolerance can go a long way tis the time of year.

Hands Face Space to stay safe it is up to You

Hi Prada47. I quite agree with you regarding supermarkets etc. What I don.t get is the 30 and 15 rule for funerals and weddings, the three family bubble at Christmas, it only takes one tiny virus to infect the lot. why don't they just let people use their own judgement, there will always be two sides to every coin. The two meter distance rule is not always possible, the hand washing is only effective till you touch an (unknown) contaminated surface, masks are no good if worn under the nose or left in a shopping trolley for someone else to dispose of, all we can do is to judge every situation and act sensibly to keep ourselves and others safe. Take care. Ruth

I too use the mask use handgel I notice more covid cases are from schools and universities yet they are still open i have a friend who has four children every time someone in school has covid her child has to isolate at home its like a guessing game will we catch it or won't we but as I posted before I have seen my healthy relatives lives change after getting the virus thats why I post to say be more aware of christmas season take care keep safe

If you look at current statistics, supermarkets are the highest risk for catching Covid, followed by schools. I think if everyone has a little sense and keeps their distance and wears their masks then we have a better chance of not catching this horrid virus. From what I have seen, not everyone wears a mask.

Didn’t you know that runners, people pushing buggies, cyclists, people walking three abreast and people walking holding hands are all immune and are definitely not symptom free carriers? 🤣🤣

Feel really sorry for you guys in the UK who really are wasting your time when the borders remain open and you continue to import new cases every day.

Yes Fergus agree But when you live in the Real World that's a price we in the UK have to pay.

Personally I am happy to pay the price to live here rather than to be where you are -)

I think Jacinda has a sister living here in the UK she is called Nicola Sturgeon !!!

I would like to see all people entering the country given the 20 minute CovID test. Both Kent, where the majority of HGV container traffic enters the country, and Slough, a few minutes from Heathrow, are in Tier 3!

Each to their own but I lived in the UK for 31 years and honestly you couldn't pay me to live there now, enjoy your Xmas lock down, I'll be in the pub with 200 people 😁

Yes if all the borders had closed it wouldn't have been like this but what happened happened we should all try to prevent further spread

Yes I noticed that Eid and Dewali were both very low key this year. And so it should be with Christmas especially as the true meaning was lost years ago!
