Morning fellow hearties, just a quick update, they had been investigating recurring urine infection, scanned bladder and kidneys, nothing too sinister thank goodness, small cyst on kidney nothing to worry about at the moment, bladder fine, I have been referred to urologist to see if they can find out why the infections keep recurring, echo scan new heart looking great, no problems at all, they have now reduced the steroids, might get rid of the beard 🧔 🙈now! And hopefully the headaches, and also halved one of the immusupprestants, I also met one of my fellow transplant patients a young man of 27 his wife was expecting their first baby when we were in, every day I wished for a new heart for him, which he got and all is well, he is now the proud father of his own little Prince, Louis, a beautiful smiling baby, I can't stop smiling myself, two new lives in the middle of a pandemic, the future looks so much brighter today, wishing you all well, stay safe char ❤️❤️x

Trimmer for Christmas hehe 🤣 I was just so happy to see him as I had been thinking about him and his wife, what a stressful time they had, I was so happy everything had worked out for them both, they definitely have a Christmas to celebrate, char

Went and had my repeat bloods done yesterday at the health centre clinic, as I said, they were cleaning like you wouldn’t believe. Whenever someone left their chair to go in with the nurse someone came and cleaned the chair down. Kept cleaning door handles and the sanitises were being wiped all the time. Felt very safe though they were running late so didn’t like that I was sitting with people coming and going. Pauline
Great to hear that everything is being done to minimise infection, two of my healthy friends have just tested positive they said they are feeling awful, it doesn't seem to be getting any better, I hope all your bloods are fine, I got loads done yesterday they were like vampires 😂take care char
Sorry about your friends hopefully they will have a mild case though you said they feel awful! Will get my results at the end of the week, just hope they don’t mess with my meds to much! I know what you say about vampires one of mine said blood count was down not surprising, with the amount taken over the past week! Have you ever heard “The Blood Donor “ with Tony Hancock? Just thinking about it makes me laugh 😂

Hi, just wondered if you’ve tried taking D-Mannose for your urinary tract infection. It’s a type of sugar that has hooks that grab ecoli bacteria and drag it out with them when you wee. I’ve used it several times and had the blessing of a urinary consultant I saw. In fact, he said it was wonderful stuff and it was a shame it’s classed as a supplement because that means it’s not available on prescription. You can buy it in high street chemists, health food shops (like the one that has the penny sale every so often) and online too.

Thank you for your reply, I haven't heard of it but I will check it out just now, I worry constantly about them coming back in case the infection goes to my new heart, and taking antibiotics all the time isn't good either char

I can second the use of D mannose, it cured my recurrent urine infections, which the medics denied were even there. I buy it in powder form online, it is much purer and cheaper than tablets. Just mix a teaspoon with water up to four times a day to get rid of an infection. You can also take a small maintenance dose to keep the bladder healthy. As with all supplements, you should check first with your consultant if you are on medications.

Hi Shar28 So glad you posted this I too have had urinary infections for a number of years, I seem to be getting them more often now, they cause me a lot of discomfort. I will give this stuff a bash, thank you. stay safe, Ruth

It’s 1000mg per tablet and the dose is 1to 3 tablets up to 6x a day at 3 hour intervals.
Have you tried Cranberry juice. I've read it could help with urinary infections?

What a lovely post. Glad you're doing well but so sorry about your friends. My nephew has just been diagnosed with Covid but he's been working from home since March so don't know where that's come from!! The young family you spoke of will have the best Christmas ever. Take good care xxx

Good morning, excellent news! Where did you have your operation? Lots of heart transplant patients in Harefield when I was having my AVR. You are really brave people, a new valve is not a lot by comparison. Yes miracles do happen!
