Golf and ICD's
Hi.
You may find this site helpful. Just type in any question in the search.
That says "most people are back to normal in 6 weeks." I certainly wouldn't have wanted to risk it after 6 weeks (not that I play golf!), but I'd have said about 3 or 4 months before I was happy swinging my arms around!
I do and have no problems. I have to admit that I never even thought about it, but I hadn't played for over 20 years and then restarted again about 2 years after the ICD was fitted (2 years ago). Unfortunately it hasn't improved my game!
I was told to keep my left arm below my shoulder for at least a month to allow the wound to heal. I went back to see the consultant a few weeks later and asked when I could play golf ? He said now ! I played a few days later in a buggy as I couldn't walk round the course at that stage . I played about 10 weeks after my ICD being fitted. I was very careful but give it a go when you feel comfortable - good luck
