Metoprolol and anxiety

Hi all,

I recently started metoprolol for tachycardia and pvcs, it helps tremendously with this but my anxiety has seem to have gotten worse. Don't think it is due to the beta blocker, think its more the anxiety over the dizziness the medication causes. Does anyone take anything with metoprolol for anxiety? I also have panic disorder.

Hi i take a beta blocker for pvcs and anxiety and also take sertraline which helps also x

Hi i hope you don't mind me asking but i see u said u take setraline ive been offered this by my gp for my anxiety which had got worse since i started having missed heartbeats do u find it has helped u and did u get any bad side effects hope u don't mind me asking

Hi

I take a different beta blocker to you bisoprolol. But had it reduced as felt so dizzy and faint on it . Now on 1.25 mg which is a lot better . I suffer like you with anxiety but now 7 months following my HA my anxiety levels have reduced . Hope you go on ok ,

I also take anti depressants which help with my anxiety,

I take metoprolol as well and pre AVR surgery had no side effects, now get the occasional light headed so talked to my Cardiologist and we cut the dosage down. So far so good and its still there but not as bad on the side effects. I guess as with any med that has side effects work with your dr until you get the dose right between fixing the problem and reducing side effects. Dont be afraid to ask the question. You know your body better than anyone.
