Tablets not suitable for me 🤷‍♀️, I have been told to take Statins Atorvastatin20mg, my cholesterol is 7+

it’s hereditary, I am small slim, don’t smoke, drink three bottles of Coors light on a Saturday.. my down fall is eating snacks ..I don’t go mad I cook everything from scratch......,and I also take Bisoprolol 2.5mg, but since I have been on these tablets,I feel lightheaded, give me the runs,I can’t seem to do anything, like gardening going for walks without feeling dreadful I did feel dizzy before hand , but my right ear was full of wax, I have sorted that out I think ,but this is not the same,

Does anyone else have the same? ,I know I should get in touch with the Dr, but it took ages to get an appointment, and I only want to ask a question,

Thank you .......

There is a whole range of statins which include Atorvastatin, Fluvastatin, Lovastatin, Pitavastatin, Pravastatin, Rosuvastatin and Simvastatin. I did not get on with Simvastatin but am fine with Atorvastatin. There is usually a statin to suit most people but only your GP or cardiologist can change the type/dose.

Thank you 😊

I know of someone who had issues with Atorvastatin, was changed to Simvastatin and no more problems. We are all different so the only thing is to try a different drug and see how it works out.

Yes I am 6 months since my bypass, and I am on atorvistatin 40 mg and bisoprolol 2.5 mg, plus others

I have spoken to my cardiology nurse and they suggest I stick to the bisoprolol but have reduced my atorvistatin down tom20 mg

Like you bisoprolol makes me feel tired in the afternoons, but like they say it should get better as time goes on, need to speak to your cardiology dept, and they should help

I started out on Simvastatin but my GP changed it to Atorvastatin gradually increasing the dose over several years. I had many side effects and complained to the GP and then other GP's in the surgery. The severe nightly cramps (muscle pains) in my legs and feet blamed on other things but gave me Quinine Sulphate to take when the attacks came on. I had severe hair loss-blamed on age and my father- most distressing to a woman. Eventually I had enough and told my GP I wanted the dose reduced, the reply was that I could stop taking them altogether - so I did. No more cramps and 2 years later my scalp is much recovered. My hair now covers my scalp-nowhere near and thickly as it had been before statin but a lot better. I am trying to prove it but the Statins given in large doses to people of a higher age can cause Kidney Failure, I have CKD4 in less than a year.

Oh I am sorry you had an awful time with Statins, I take 20mg, but tge pains I have walking in my legs and feet ,in fact sometimes it’s like the beginning of flu.... all over ....not everyday, I take them at night , just so I go to the loo in the morning and not during the day when I have to rush to the loo,

My doctor phoned me up and told me I must take them .....7. something

I’d rather not take them though 😐

I take Atorvastatin 80 mg and Bisoprolol 2.5 mg twice daily. I’ve also occasionally had the runs but wasn’t sure if it was due to these tablets or the others I take. Anyway, after eight months it seems a lot better than when I first started.
