Increase in Canderstartan

Hubby's BP went 234/80 when he visited GP surgery for blood test. We know he has white coat syndrome but it has never been this high. Doctor increased his canderstartan to 8 mg a day but so far the readings are still in the 150/90 area. Does anybody know how long the increase in medication takes to kick in, google gives various timescales.

Hi, try not to worry. I was up at 200 over 100 some months back. The medicine takes a while to work, he will get there.

I remember my 69 year old husband going to cardio rehab after his quad bypass in November 2018 and being banned from the gym!! He suffers with white coat syndrome and his BP was off the scale when they took it at the gym.

Long story short, our GP has always said to monitor BP readings at home although he did fit my husband with a 48 hour monitor 'just in case'! It turns out his BP during the day and night is text book! Our GP didn't want to increase meds based on 'white coat' readings.

He's still on Bisoprolol 1.25mg with BP readings of 110-120/65-70.

Good luck and take care xxxxx
