Hi gang, if you are sitting comfortably l will begin. After nine days of pain and swelling, numerous different antibiotics and swelling reducing meds things were getting worse not better. The Doctor had drawn a pen line above the rash surrounding my ankle. l woke up Thursday morning and it was three inches higher. l decided to go to A&E in Bristol. After a short wait l was seen by a lovely nurse who fetched a Doctor, who listened to my back story of severe sepsis and infective endocarditis, he in turn contacted a nice Consultant who examined and touched my hot, rock hard, red ,black and purple foot with its painful lump from the bite. Fast forward to rapid Covid test, negative thankfully. Foot and chest x ray, full bloods and organ function tests and lnr levels. Three days in hospital during which l had surgery to remove the absess and flush out the entire infected area and additional haemotoma under a general. Had to have a bridging plan from warfarin to Clexin jabs. Finally came home yesterday on the day of the op which finished at 10 am after waiting six and a half hours for my medication to arrive from the hospital pharmacy!!! l am in a agony if l move and feel sick as a dog with the Clexin, off to see GP tomorrow for wound inspection, (l am bandaged like a Mummy) this is all because of a bloody horsefly, beware my virtual friends!!! Take care, Sue. PS, all NHS staff were so kind and attentive, nothing was too much trouble despite being short staffed on the non Covid wards and run ragged, thanks to them all. xxx.
