Has anyone taken up the offer to take Statins as a way to reduce the risk of a stroke or heart attack when they have had the Aorta Valve Replaced?

Hi. Am taking pre op tests before AVR surgery and a consultant has advised taking statins. Never took them before and she wasn’t clear on why I should take them. Why are you been offered them? Jon

My Annual Blood Tests are really good for Kidney, Liver, Sugars, good and bad Cholesterol etc and my BMI is good. I’m 73 and apparently 20% chance of stroke or wart attack. I’m told that taking Statins will reduce the risk to 15% as they block production of bad cholesterol and enable the good to destroy fatty stuff preventing clots and furry arteries
