I’ve posted before, my husband is nearly four weeks post op AVR. Some of you have been really helpful your response to any questions we had. Dispute going to the GP and ringing the surgeon about my husband irregularities/ ectopic beats, it’s still happening, my question is..... will the irregularities go back to normal heart rhythm and is it really ok to just sit on theses issues because although I have spoken to professionals apart from stopping his water tablets nothing is happening about it.

If this was happening to me (AVR & double by-pass 2015)
I would be getting in touch with both my GP and my Cardiothorasic consultant and telling them that the water tablet solution is not working and he still has a problem!
Make sure that everything else is being followed properly - excercise, diet, rest and relaxation.
Keep a note of when events happen and if anything led to them
Sorry can't help more but it is all about team work
Thank you for your reply... I have been in touch with the consultant and he says that the heart need to settle down and almost get used to the new valve.
Hi, we got the call back, we were told not to worry about the irregular heart rhythm/ ectopic , carry on with the Amioderone until phone post op review. And keep going with the bisoprolol.
I guess it does worry me that both the GP and the surgical team basically do their diagnosing over the phone and not a physical examination is completed post op after discharge.
Hi Jewel. Obviously, the consultant and GP are happy that there is nothing seriously amiss, but as you say, without seeing your husband, how can they be sure.
I suggest you call the BHF nurses to have a chat with them. They are more (human!) likely to be able to reassure you. They might also be able to suggest ways to make your husband more comfortable - different exercise, breathing exercises, that sort of thing.
Good luck xx
I did not get to have an AVR - I underwent a David's Procedure (they sliced and dice your Ascending Aorta Chamber to keep your original AV) - but we (my Wife and I)have just spent 2 weeks 'hounding (loose sense) my Surgeon, my GP, Cardiology Clinic for answers about my medication.
Yesterday, I finally got some answers that we are happy with, as well a serious change in my post discharge medication. I was discharged with AF, and I am just living with it - no big difference to an Ectopic Heart Rythm, just making getting a reliable BP reading fun... But ECG's work fine with it.
