Medication side effects

Hello all, I am a newbie, and had a triple bypass end of March this year, I am on various tablets, and getting various side effects, can anyone tell me if they have experienced the following

Bad cough all the time (found this to be ramipril) and have now stopped this tablet.

I have a runny nose all the time and when I lay down it causes me to cough, but don’t know if any of the following tablets would cause this

Aspirin

Clopidogrel

Atorvistatin

Bisoprolol

Lansoprazole

Metformin

Any advice would be great thanks

Hi Baz51 - you can check out the side effects of all those medications, by putting in a search as follows : name of the drug - drugs (dot)com - aide effects. Any and all drugs can be checked for side effects, contra indications, and a wealth of information. drugs(dot)com is my go-to research site for meds / drugs. Ramipril was hopeless for me. Too many side effects. Have fun digging. Though remember, that everyone is different and what causes problems in one person, might not cause any in another. Can also isolate each drug, by not taking for the duration, then reintroducing to re-challenge. Note side effects. Statins are a known for many side effects including brain fog and rhabdomyolyse - muscle pain, nasty, can be most debilitating. Anyway, check em all out.

Thanks I will do some research, it’s the one that is giving me a constant runny nose the main issue.

Here ya go - Ramipril - others have found the same problem, and have reported as such on this forum -

Then, if you search, Ramipril, runny noese ? Yes. Ramipril, cough ? Yes. Easy peasy.

Jun 29, 2018 - I assume these are some of the side effects of ramipril. ... I am familiar with the *pril family (ACE inhibitors) causing a fairly persistent cough but not ... all the time with the tickley throat, runny nose til I could not take it any more!

Hi have a look at the Bisoprolol I have a runny nose in the morning, also they had to change Ramipril to Candesartan because of the cough.

Oh the joys of medication 😂

i've been on Apixaban and also put on bisoprolol 5 years ago for Afib i was so breathless going a few steps so got the bisop changed to Atenolol which another family member has been on for years with no side effects but I still am breathless every day also have upper abdominal pain every day had every blood test ,endoscopy.abdominal ct scan liver fibro scan all results negative.I have had a sliding hiatus hernia for about 20 years and take 1 lansoprazole daily so pain doc said could be caused by any of these tablets My life seems on hold that I cannot do things I used to or plan anything as I don't know how I will feel each morning I had been hoping to get another heart check but cancelled due to the covid 19 till end of year .I am so fed up with it all.

Sorry to hear about your health and let’s hope they sort it soon, I have been taken off ramipril due to the coughing and now trying to change the bisoprolol to another as my nose is constantly running, and it makes me cough at night

The prob I have is the gp won’t change anything until cardiology ok it

Hi Baz51 - if you are experiencing side effects please make sure you speak to your doctor about it before making any changes to your medication.

You can also find lots of useful links to further information about heart medication via the BHF website here bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...

Hope this helps :)
