I've been suffering from various "cold" symptoms for months now; cough, runny eyes, sore throat, occasional difficulty breathing, etc, etc in various combinations, and there's no sign it's going to go away anytime soon. My GP suggested an allergy but I don't think it is; a pharmacist said I should ask my GP for something, but I'm wondering if it's a side-effect of the drugs I'm on (low-dose asprin, atorvastatin, amplodipine) for angina. I seem to remember something mentioned here about a cough caused by some "heart" medications so does anyone have any experience of this?

I have similar problems. Runny nose and eyes gummed nearly shut on wake up. I'm on atorvastatin and aspirin for angina. I'm waiting for next step, I have stenosis left aorta and expect I will need a stent or two. For allergy symptoms I tried all the OTC varieties and after no relief, spoke to GP. He basically said to stay with the anti allergy meds. I no longer think this is an allergy.
It's funny isn't it......you told your GP the anti-allergy meds didn't work and he said keep taking them.........
Yes, strange. I'm on the same meds as you, atorvastatin and aspirin. I don't have the cough though. There are disconnects with this, cardiologist sent me for a stress echocardiogram on Tuesday, clinician says no, it could give me a heart attack. I'm trying to prevent a heart attack 😬
It’s ACE inhibitors like Ramipril that tend to cause a cough. You’re not on that.
I get all of these symptoms on most high blood pressure medications. Seems to be standard. Been on Anlopadine Candesartin Bispnorol Ramiprl and now Ibersartin. All cause bad muscle aches. Most cause right throat nervousness and respiratory problems. Stomach aches and dizziness also.
