What does your doctor say - you have reported the chest pain during a cold, right?

I get chest pain when I have a cold if, like WoodlandWonders, I have a concurrent chest infection. Or if I'm in an acute flare of my recurrent pericarditis - the condition sometimes starts off feeling like a cold so feeling chest pain when breathing during what I think is a cold is one of my cues to start thinking an acute flare is trying to come on.

Also have chest pain breathing in/out if I have a wee case of pleurisy.
