Revital Health stocks Magnesium Taurate , also look at the York Cardiologist Sanjay Gupta's 'you tube ' on Magnesium, when I saw him he recommended Magnesium Taurate .

Does Dr Sanjay Gupta provide evidence based information to support his opinion?

Yes of course he has , he's a Cardiologist, google it , watch it or read any of his papers !

Published research papers?

Can you provide some links please to his research?

I have watched his youtube videos which have some inaccuracies about some rarer conditions which I asked him to correct I sent him the BHF information...I am still waiting .

I have also met him and he acknowledged he wasn't an expert in these heart conditions.

I'm sure if you've asked him he will provide you with what you need! He is the Cardiologist not me !

Not an expert? I am a big fan as he explains ectopics so well and is reassuring. He explains the magnesium is hard to measure because only a small percentage is in the blood. Whilst that seems to make sense I would only take what my cardiologist says to take.

Same here as am I , I saw him when I was in York and I have every confidence in him , but of course it's a good idea to be guided by your own Cardiologist's recommendations as he is most familiar with your condition . Whilst I cannot talk for everyone, magnesium has helped me a lot with my conditions .

His advice about ectopic is very good.

He has a great presenting style.

However at his own admission he is not an expert on rarer heart conditions. It is disappointing he hasn't updated his information to be in keeping with the information on the BHF website.

Ah Milkfairy, that was like telling a 4 year old there is no Santa! Nasty few minutes. When I get anxious about the damned ectopics I go to a Sanjay video. Makes me feel normal.

Hi MrsK82

Have you discussed this with your GP or Cardiologist?

MrsK82 profile image
MrsK82 in reply to Milkfairy

No I haven’t as yet - I’m not under the cardiologist at present. GP only - do you think I should?

I would discuss taking any supplement if you have been prescribed any other medications with your GP.

You could also give the BHF helpline a call and speak to one of the Cardiac nurses

I have taken magnesium taurate for years now following a nutritionists recommendation , way before I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. The Brandi buy is Biocare.

Dear MrsK82,

Thank you for this post.

If you are thinking about taking a supplement that has not been prescribed by a healthcare professional, I would suggest that you speak to your doctor in the first instance. In most cases, you should be able to get all the nutrients you need from a healthy balanced diet.

Please see link below for further information ;

Hope this has been of some help to you.

Hi Barbara, sorry to budge in but.... I have cramps since my AVR. Am 5 months post op. No one seems to know why... they come and go in legs, arms and even bottom. Have you heard of this? Again I am thinking about magnesium to help. Thanks, Teresa

PS talked to GP, cardiologist, heart surgeon the lot.

Hi Tessie28,

I can imagine how frustrating this can be, particularly when the cause is unknown. I would reiterate that if this is something you would like to take, then please talk to your doctor in the first instance.

The other suggestion I would make, is to try and get in touch with your local cardiac rehabilitation team to see if you are eligible to be enrolled onto the programme. Some services have limited access but some are currently running virtual assessments.

If able and willing, perhaps some form of structured exercise prescribed by the team might help?

Best wishes

I take 500mg from Vytox, 365 tabs for £19.99 on Amazon, although I suspect these may be fakes????actually I'm sure they're fakes....there are quite a few fake supplements on Amazon and Ebay, beware and do your research.
