Hi all. I just thought I’d come on here and vent if you don’t mind...anyone that has seen my previous posts will know my mum had a heart attack and went into heart failure at the end of feb this year. Due to Covid and lockdowns she hasn’t seen any drs or consultants face to face and all appointments have been via the phone. She’s had one echo and will be having a stress echo next week. She is also having blood tests as she’s losing so much wait. She’s disappearing before my eyes. She’s also started getting lots of bruises for no reason but has been told that’s because she’s on asprin... she’s also having to deal with my dad who had not long been diagnosed with mixed dementia!! I help where and when I can and go and see them every day. When mum had her heart attack they could not fit a stent as it was 100% blocked so everything is just being managed with medication. I often wonder is she going to be like a ticking time bomb and how long she will live for!! She’s 77 and one of the most positive people I know. Anyway this week she also ended up with shingles!!! So she’s on a good dose of tablets for that too. We finally have an appointment with the consultant early September and he will go through all her tests I am guessing and also see how she is doing etc. Sorry for the long post but sometimes I just don’t know where to turn!!

What more can possibly go wrong!!
I am enduring the year from hell so I know how you feel, I just wonder how many more things are going to go wrong 🤦🏻♀️
Oh penny so sorry to read your post sometimes life really kicks us in the teeth! Hopefully your Mums dose of shingles will not be too bad and when you see the consultant you will get some answers what they are going to do to help her.
Take good care Pauline
I am so sorry to read all the issues that have happened. One question, Did your mum have an angiogram? When I went into St Barts for my angiogram in February, I was told that if they found blockage they would insert the balloon or do a bypass if needed.
Yes she did have the angiogram and they couldn’t get the balloon in and said it was too risky. So it’s left blocked. She is just on medication to help her.
How awful. I hope they schedule her for a bypass. The shingles must be from stress. I hope it finishes soon. But what a situation! Sending you and your family my best wishes for better health soon.
I so feel for you Penny is there anyway you can speak to the consultant before then?
So sorry Penny for your
Mum she sounds like she has had such a rough time .
I hope you can get some answers from the consultant when you see him in Sept . This covid situation has made things so much harder hasn’t it and left us with lots of questions that need answering.
Keeping every crossed for you Mum Penny x
I feel ur pain i to have 100% blockage but it's a bypass graft and on all availability meds life quality is poor but still am alive ps am only 50
So very sorry to hear all your anguish Penny. Your Mum is just a year older than me and should enjoy many years ahead. Yes blood thinners and asprin can certainly cause bruises and do with myself on dabigitran. I understand a 100 pct blockage can be stented but you will need to check. Is her weight loss due to anxiety, not eating or some other ailment. I was the Hon Consul here in Singapore and went through a terribly stressful period losing 2 stone, however regained that weight once a certain crisis was over.....unfortunately kept gaining. You sound so caring and what with your Dad with dementia, it must seem a double whammy. I truly hope your Mum can receive a procedure that will allow her to have a good quality of life for many years to come. Do press your doctors for her as they are under enormous pressure these days. It is unfortunate that the rule "He who shouts loudest gets heard" is more relevant in these awful times. Xx
(((((HUGS))))) Sometimes only a good 'vent' is the way through. You and your family have so much to cope with including and perhaps especially the uncertainty of it all. Venting helps and hopefully virtual (((((HUGS))))) will help as well.
Sorry to hear about your mum - and now shingles !! Hope they not too painful . I can relate to what’s going on - I too have not had much attention since leaving hospital - I’m now considering some private appointments too
So sorry to hear about your mum (and poor old you too - it must be such a worry). Things do pile up don't they. I'm sure the shingles will disappear soon although from experience, a very painful illness. Good luck to you all. I hope things sort themselves out very soon.
More virtual hugs coming your way from us. xxxx
Oh dear, Penny. Poor you (and Mum and Dad) . At least the consultant appointment isn't so far off now. This bl---dy Covid 19 makes every problem ten times worse doesn't it. Want you to know your post has sort of helped me because I've been stressing and driving myself bonkers over problems that are so much less stressful than yours. I've resolved to get things in perspective and pull myself together. Do take care of yourself as much as you can.
