Heart scans after contracting COVID
I saw a similar story across several online newsfeeds this morning, reporting on studies the BHF has done - same findings although a couple of the stories mentioned something about echocardiograms not being done unless absolutely necessary owing to the difficulties with social distancing and PPE.
The results really aren't surprising, considering, I think for me the only real surprise is the surprised medics at the finding - surely a case bad enough to warrant ICU admittance is a case with cardiac-coronary implications?
It seems that more evidence is coming out about the longer term impact of COVID as a disease, on the internal organs, even the mild cases.

One of the pieces I read this morning mentioned cognitive impairment as well as organ failure and cardiac complications.
I was on the high-risk list for a few weeks until my consultants put their heads together and decided I could come off. A little more freedom then - freedom I've used with extreme caution and the more researchers discover about SARS-CoV-2, the happier I am I've continued to be cautious. This latest information release is worrying (and makes me happy to continue the caution) - what will a second wave be like if we're seeing this kind of damage from a first wave?
During the 1918-1920 Spanish Influenza pandemic, the first wave was 'bad', the second wave was far worse after the flu mutated. The third wave was somehow not as bad as first and second as the flu had mutated yet again but this time to a far less deadly flu.
Currently with SARS-CoV-2, we're still in the first wave, the second won't happen for a few more months if it does happen. If it follows the same pattern as the 1918-1920 pandemic (and so far it does show signs of following that pattern), we're in for a very rough winter. Not to sound panicked or alarmist but I'm preparing, just in case (keeping freezer and store cupboard topped up, and making sure I continue strict hygiene and other precautions)
Then again, if we're very-very-very lucky, this first wave will be the only wave.
Hope floats.
Saw the same as Sunnie, the virus seems to hit all organs lungs, kidneys, liver, and the heart. Those in ICU for a lengthy time, organs seem to shut down and are left with multiple health issues.
This is the latest report of heart damage after covid-19. Studies in China and Italy have also arrived at similar results. Here's a paper published in Scientific American dated 6th April 2020 on the subject
