Hi I’m new here, A few weeks ago wile I was trying to sleep I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in the left of my chest so I sat up in shock and it when away after a few minutes, and ever since then I’ve been having dull aches and a few sharp pains in the same area but only when I’m resting or mostly when lying down, I obviously considered going to the GP but not sure they would do anything. I am fairly active but overweight and under 20 leaving me quite worried as I’ve had 2 weeks of this now, if anyone offer any advice that would be appreciated thanks.

Chest pain/aches
I think you should talk to a GP.That will hopefully allay your fears and see what can be done.
Welcome to the forum.
Yes, speak to your GP or you could call 111.
They should be able help you find out what it is / isn't.
Advice for anyone reading this: if you have repetitive chest pain SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. Do not ask for help here - if it's serious, you could be wasting precious time. Like my cardiac nurses told me, get to the A&E first, ask your questions later.
So there. Go to the A&E if it happens again and you're concerned. Once they've thoroughly checked you out, they'll recommend you speak to your GP anyway, and then it's probably off to the cardiologist.
Adding my voice to the chorus (Report to your GP) - what you're describing could be anything from pericarditis (typical left side chest pain when lying down) to upper GI (gastrointestinal) to any number of health conditions.
I have recurrent pericarditis - one of my 'signals' warning of an oncoming acute flare is left side chest pain especially when lying down (it's a commonly reported symptom). But my husband has some upper GI issues - I read him your OP and he said 'I wonder if the person has upper GI issues...' - lol (but not really funny), whatever our personal conditions, when we hear something that sounds like similar symptoms we think 'Oh, it's got to be...'.
In the end, it could be serious (chest pain IS serious until it has been properly investigated). Only your medic should advise and he/she can't until you telephone and report the left side chest pain when lying down. Only he/she has the professional training to investigate, diagnose, refer forward for further investigation, etc.
Good morning Hay this could be anxiety but it could also be physical such as blockage. Do you have any other effects with it such as sweating or shortness of breath? Age does not matter if it is cardiac so do get checked out it is the smart thing to do.
Go see you GP.
It may be useful to look at the symptoms of vasospastic angina and see if it seems to fit. The fact this is happening at rest makes me think of this. I have this condition. Also called coronary artery spasms or prinzemetal angina. You should be discussing the symptoms with your GP . I do get the same sharp pains and dull pain but a spasm is similar to that felt with a heart attack and very painful. Some doctors though are not aware of this condition and it can be a while before it is diagnosed.
Hi Haydondo
As others have suggested as none of us are healthcare professionals we are unable to tell you why you are experiencing your symptoms.
I suggest you go and see your GP.
You could also call the BHF Helpline and speak to one of the Cardiac nurses who are always very knowledgeable and helpful.

Good luck
Hi Haydondo.
As others have said, set the ball rolling with a GP appt. Your pains may or may not be heart related. One thing for sure, your anxiety won’t be helping and is probably exaggerating matters.
Therefore, the sooner you start ruling things out, the sooner you can relax and start feeling better.
Best wishes
