With the temperature changes we have had its probably a summer chill. You should avoid cold cures as they can push up your BP. If you get a muggy head a couple of Paracetamol is the best bet. My mum would have recommended a bowl of chicken soup.

Don't forget to include some garlic in the soup! It's good for cold and flu symtoms.

The heat and humidity really got to me on Friday!

Wow a diagnosis & advice & no one reported you yet!

in reply to

Reported, advice can be dangerous without full knowledge of patient.

Why would you want to report michael he is very helpful and most times has given me advice and I think most of us know if symptoms get worse ph gp

in reply toYasyass

Advice from a non healthcare professional is dangerous, ask any of the Health Star mods they will confirm what i say as they are so quick to report anyone who gives any sort of advice, as it is against the ToS

I think Michael was just offering a bit of support, he didn't recommend anything dangerous or go down the old wives route of a good dollop of goose fat. I am sure everyone knows this group is for support and a little tender loving care. Keep safe.

Totally pathetic behaviour! What's your agenda?

Sorry Gaz that your a little peeved !!!

The advice that was given is the same as that in all published literature from the whole world health industry !!!

I am still trying to work out what you think was wrong.

Paracetamol is the standard OVER the COUNTER Medication for Colds and Chills and Temperature control. On the information leaflet it says be aware when on other meds (which is what Michael advised ) Chicken soup is what I had for lunch yesterday oh and we use Garlic Butter on our toast, so no problem on that score

Now if Michael had said increase your Bisoprolol up to 50mg a day I would be worried, if it wasn't taken down immediately.

Lets not lose our common sense in these difficult times

Stay well Stay safe

My point is, what if it isn't a "Cold", is Michael qualified to make that diagnosis? Cold symptoms can be quite similar to other viral infections and therefore the "advice" could be incorrect.

I’m really pleased we have members here who are alert to anyone giving advice that might be taken as professional. It can be very harmful.

But we don’t decide, Reporting it simply means the BHF are alerted and can have a look!

I think the pollen count has been inordinately high recently, so it may be hay fever, even if you don’t usually get it, or haven’t had it before. I’m really suffering and today was really bad.

I get those symptoms.

Hayfever, take a nasel spray to treat it.

In these days, just check all your symptoms against key coronavirus signs. Please. Can do no harm to be safe,

Lots of sudden sneezing, all bunged up? Could be the good old hay fever?

Very high pollen count at the mo.

My impression of gaz_chops comment to Michaeljh was that it was slightly tounge in cheek in a general but not personal way. I do however have a warped sense of humour, so was probably way off base.

I find the love of a good woman cures everything, but don't tell the wife

That really made me lol 🤣
