Hi

Not heard of pump head syndrome before.

I had valve replacement 11 weeks ago. I had quite a few headaches for about 2months post surgery but they have since settled.

Hope his recovery goes well.

Thanks Suzanne - it is to do with concentration or lack of it, not being able to cope with the same levels of stress, irritability, aggressiveness and various other issues

Oh that sounds a bit like what I'm sufferring with. It's my memory that's causing me a problem 11 weeks post heart valve replacement. I can't concentrate like I used to and yes I'm more irritable than previous. How far post surgery is your husband. Had the gp suggested anything?

I'm beginning to worry now.

Thanks

Hi - sorry didn't mean to worry you. I think this usually disappears over time bit by bit. I've attached a link but please don't take notice to the suggested vitamin type medicine at the end - that is just a sales pitch. He is talking to his GP some more today but I think the tips they give in the attached article will help us much as anything. I should add that I recently was attacked and had similar symptoms for post concussion syndrome and I have definitely improved over time.

Hi Suebedoo....I am interested in your post from 9 months ago. My husband had a AVR 22 January 2020. I noticed changes in his personality, lack of concentration, memory problems, irritability, aggressiveness and various other issues. I checked on this website and most people were saying it disappeared after 1, 2,3 or 4 months etc, but we're now a year onwards & wondered if you or anyone else is in the same position. I have a telephone consultation with our GP on Wednesday of this week, when I hope to discuss this with him. Anyone got any suggestions of how I should approach this subject with the GP. Hubby had previously mentioned it to GP, but he preferred 'not to comment' as he wasn't an expert in that particular field, or words to that effect. If anyone can give me some advice, I'd very much appreciate it. Thank you.
