Problems with stiff GTN pump action

My 90 year old mum has a GTN spray, but the last few bottles she has been given are too stiff for her to use. She says that a few years ago the spray was a different make and easier to pump [but she doesn't have the name of the manufacturer].

Has anyone else had this problem, and/or do you have any ideas about what brands might be easier to pump?

She has tried the pills in pocket [pips] but they don't work for her.

Hello,

I have been prescribed sublingual GTN spray and there are two brands.

One is a white metal canister the other an orange/ red bottle. I personally don't know which is easier to pump.

Perhaps ask your local Pharmacist about which is easiest to pump?

You may need the GP to prescribe by name the brand which works best for your mum.

The white one on the right is easier to spray. Ive had both and the left one(although it tastes better🤣) is a little bit stiffer to pump x

It might be worth asking if there's a device she could use it with, I know some people with asthma have a similar thing. An occupational therapist may be another person to ask.You can get sublingual pills for GTN, I'm not sure if that's what you meant by pips, but they take ages to dissolve.

I hope you can find out which is best for your mum, she must find it so frustrating.

I will definitely look into that. Thanks :-)

I suggest someone discusses this with her GP or the dispensing pharmacist to see what alternatives are available. It's clearly no good being prescribed medication if you are unable to use it.

I know. I've tried talking to the GP and they just suggested the pill in the pocket. But thanks for the advice.
