Has any person in the group with an ICD fitted got a Stairlift for their use?
Hi PaterB
Unfortunately. I cant answer your question, but there is a website called 'ask the ICD' which may be of help. Or the ICD manufacturers website may have an e mail address you could contact them on.
There is also an closed facebook group called "ICD support uk , there may someone there who could help, if no one in this forum is able to.
Peter. What part of the UK do you live ?
A long way from the north east of Scotland 🏴. My friend just had one installed in January but was a local company Hope you find a supplier near you.
I've had two stair lifts, one by Stannah and one by Acorn. The Stannah one was fitted and arranged by Social services as I'm disabled. When we moved house they and Stannah refused point blank to transfer it to our new house purely because the stairs have a bend and just 2 steps at the bottom. I can manage 2 steps and it would have fit the big rise perfectly but they insisted the little flat bit where they turned wasn't big enough and we would have to get it altered ( The stairs) which would have brought them into the middle of the room. I got Stannah out privately and they saw no problem with the stairs but were VERY expensive so I got a quote from Acorn who were much cheaper. As a company I found their after sales a complete pain; constantly ringing to offer insurance, service contracts etc but the stair lift is fine. I did have to get them back to fit a handle to fold it away or I'd have been leaning over the drop of the stairs. Depending on your income you could get assessed by Soc services and may not have to pay and you get ongoing servicing. If cost isn't an issue then I found the Stannah better quality but I have no problems with my Acorn and I get it serviced by a local shop. Both companies will come out and give you quotes and advice.
