Triple bypass

I was a healthy 75 year old female (normal blood pressure and cholesterol) played tennis 3 times a week but started having chest pains on court. However they disappeared the more I played. Well over two years of this and 3 ecg’s I was told it was muscular. I googled my symptoms and came to the conclusion it was probably muscular...until I had a mild hear attack. Well after an angiogram it was discovered I needed a triple bypass,! Horrible shock. I found the medication the worst. I don’t think I ingested much of it and felt sick a lot. After 3 months my cardiologist took me off everything apart from aspirin. Now six months on I am back to near normal. Went through all the post op depression ( I could manufacture a panic attack in seconds and felt I was dying). My advice to anyone going through this is it is so important to go to to rehab. It gave me my confidence back and you are monitored all the time while you excercise.

Hi, a very similar thing happened to me, I thought my asthma was getting worse but after no new medication improved it I was referred to a rapid access clinic who diagnosed angina & gave me different statins. I had an angiogram expecting to be told that I would need stents but I had a shock like you when I was told 3 arteries were totally blocked & I had to have a triple bypass.

That was 2 years ago & after a few complications I am still here. My rehab was delayed because because I was very weak after being in hospital for nearly a month but the rehab gave me my confidence back & helped my so much in my fitness.

I don’t know where I would have been without it.

So glad you came through it. It’s a tough ride mentally and physically and the shock takes some time to get over.Getting confidence back is paramount . I just wonder about people out there with similar symptoms only be be told they are ok,

Glad you feeling better stay safe and enjoy life you never know what is round the corner. I have similar experience to you and dont get medical help any more. Being 74 I felt the last time I was in with severe chest pain I should not be there and asked why did I call 999. I let them know not me but doctor at 111. Now i am not afraid of covid19 i am afraid of being 74 although i am fit and active
