Strange runny nose

Question, I'm on 2.5mg bisoprolol, 20mg losartan, 25mg artovastatin and 75mg soluble aspirin I also take omeprazole. I've developed this strange runny nose. It's not like a normal runny nose but like water suddenly starts rapidly dripping out. More so when I bend over. Does anyone else experience this on the medication I have no other symptoms other than that happening.

It’s the Bisoprolol and my cardiologist said a lot of patients taking it experience this side effect.

Good luck! If you do get any good advice, I would be very grateful if you could share it please as my consultant didn’t offer any helpful suggestions.

I have a runny nose virtually all the time especially outdoors but I’m not on the same meds. I just thought it was the curse of being 62 😀

Plenty of answers already, but yes, for me it was the bisoprolol that caused my runny nose. It only stopped when I no longer needed to take it.

Was about to post a similar question. I take nebivolol instead is of bisoprolol as I could not stand the side effects. Also on ramipril not losartan but my nose has started doing same thing. It is very annoying.

As others have said, Bisoprolol ,I'm on 2.5 mg ,

have been for 4 years, i seem to be sniffing permanently,

It seems to get worse when I'm eating,

which can be embarrassing when eating out ,

I'm also on Ramipril.

I have found Bisoprolol makes me more prone to hay fever and hence a runny nose. I also have a runny nose when eating... thankfully not badly!

Yes, I was figuring it was hay fever. Hadn’t made the connection with the drug.

With the exception of Oil Seed Rape, I never suffered with hay fever before I went on Bisoprolol.... and I only have 1.25mg a day.

Me too, worse in cold weather

And me,plus my nose is always cold.

How are your fingers and toes? You may have Reynauds Syndrome (as I have) and Bisoprolol makes it worse.

in reply toMountainGoat52

My fingers and toes do go cold at times. After my night shifts I shower then go to bed and have to wear socks because my toes are so cold, otherwise I can't sleep.

Sounds like it. If your fingers go white, then almost certainly you have some aspect of Reynauds. My hands and feet are never completely warm except in bed.... even in summer!

Me too, and worse when eating. Been like this for 4 1/2 years since taking meds.

Bisopropol seems to be the culprit. I am only on 1.25 dose but it still happens, mealtimes and at other moments too. Very embarrassing at times. My eyes also produce tears as well. Is there an alternative drug I wonder? Hate it!

Yep, count me in too - bisoprolol dew drop!

1.25 mg and usually only when I exercise which I guess is a blessing.

I still have the same problem although I have changed from Bisoprolol to Ivabradine. It's not quite as bad but it's definitely still a nuisance. The only drug I have in common with you is Aspirin.
