Using anti-inflammatory gel

I note that I should avoid taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs on candesartan, but can I use traxam gel on my arthritic finger joints?

I don’t know what traxam gel is but I can tell you that I’m allowed to use Voltarol gel (diclofenac) or Ibuprofen gel for my arthritis.

Thankyou - that is really helpful

Traxam is much better than Voltarol and is only available on prescription.

Thanks, I know!! It is ibuprofen based rather than diclofenac- but I need to check with my GP as it predates my BP issue.

Hi. I’m on Naproxen for a chronic pain condition in my legs and also use movelat gel if I get a bad flare up of osteoarthritis. My cardiologist doesn’t like me using these but it’s a compromise as I was on long term diclofenac. He says the pain in my legs will trigger anxiety and stress which will trigger an Angina attack so it’s a lesser of two evils. We review it every time I see him. Hope that makes sense .

Thank you so much, I mostly use arnica rub, but now and then it gets so bad I just have to use something.

I hope you continue to manage your pain safely.

Thanks, I was prescribed traxam before my BP issues, but I haven't been able to talk to my GP about it yet.

I will xx

My Rehab nurses told me that thinking has now changed within the pharmacy industry and they say it is ok to use topical Ibuprofen gel occasionally (but not regularly).

Like grapefruit juice and statins - when I started on Atorvastatin I was told no grapefruit, but now that has changed to up to 2 small glasses a day!

The Traxam PIF says to only use for 14 days. I just use it on my knees so thats not a big area so should get away with longer. The company making it was taken over and it was off the market for over two years.
