One to ask your local pharmacist, they or your GP are the only people you should ask for advice regarding medication.

if you are permitted to, ibuprofen can be used alongside. But certainly best to check first with your medics, as it’s not normally recommended alongside blood pressure tablets. Crushable.

I also have Butec patches (look it up). It’s an opioid so most docs are wary.

Depending on where the pain is and how deep seated it is, I find Ibuleve spray really bebeficial, and although it's only half tge strength of the gel it's twice as effective. You have to be persistent with it, it's not one squirt and you're cured, but I've achieved a significant reduction in pain.

If you opt for Ibuprofen especially by mouth, go carefully, as it can cause gastric bleeds in some people, as I know from personal experience. Thats why I avoid it.

It's really a question for the medics as it depends what other meds you are on. Ibuprofen is a no-no for me as I'm on clopidogrel and aspirin.

You shouldn’t take any advice from here as we are not medical professionals familiar with your case.

Having said that I’ve been told no anti-inflammatory drugs at all unless prescribed by my doctor.

You definitely need to refer this back to your GP. Some of us can take Ibuprofen, for others it's a big NO.

If it's for joint or muscle pain, then Ibuprofen gel might be suitable - apparently little of the medication reaches your bloodstream. I find it helpful, especially where I have an issue where an artery was harvested from my arm for my bypass. My wrist has been painful at times ever since the op.

As part of my initial rehab we had a talk from the hospital pharmacist where he said the gel was ok but definitely not the tablets.

Yes, that's the general thinking, but I have only gleaned that from being on this forum.

When I had my HA / stents no-one mentioned NSAIDS. I was put on Prasugrel for the 11 months leading up to my bypass and had a GTN spray (never needed). Again no mention of NSAIDS. After my bypass the Prasugrel was changed to Clopidogrel. Still no mention of NSAIDs. I eventually had tests at my local hospital to try to determine why I had had the HA and check what damage had been done. Thankfully there is only minimal scarring on an internal wall. The lack of damage was put down to me recognising my HA symptoms quickly and having the blood clot removed and stents inserted all within 90 minutes of me calling 999. The cause was eventually found to be stress in combination with an heritary factor. At the end of all this, no mention of NSAIDS.

HiPlease ask your gp or pharmacist as no one here is allowed to advise you. It reallyvdoes depend on what other medication you take as there can be interractiins

as others have suggested, a pharmacist is the best person to ask but they will need to know what other medication you are taking

anti-inflammatories can affect the action of some other drugs like hypertension medication
