I been taking 4 years no side effect , what side effect are you getting ?
Lots of members here are on multiple medications. What other ones are you on? Beta blockers are often used to treat anxiety.
Sounds like a visit to your GP is in order. They can probably change your meds. You just need to tell him/her.
You might want to telephone your GP or the medic who prescribed the beta blocker - he/she can talk with you about the side effects you're having and possibly adjust your dosage. What dosage are you on, and what time of day do you take your medications?
I'm on Bisoprolol 1.25mg+300mg aspirin once a day, I take mine first thing in the morning and have had very few side effects. The ones I've had are so slight as to be not really noticeable (some blurred vision when tired and a bit of mild 'Bisoprolol Brain' fuzz first thing in the morning or when I'm tired) and for me the medication has been a very real game changer.
But everyone is different. Talk to your medic and see if he/she thinks a dosage/timing adjustment would help.
Please update us - so many of us are on Bisoprolol and read every word we see posted. Plus (biggest plus ) we care about one another - so please keep us posted on how you're getting on, and welcome to the forum!
I'm on 5mg once a day. I was on 7.5mg. For the first time I am taking it tonight not in the morning. In addition I take 160mg Diovan (Valsartan) for bp, 5mg Apixaban (blood thinner), 20mg Frusemide and 12.5mg spironolactone. Both the last two are diuretics. Tomorrow I commence a trial of a CPAP machine. This is to maintain my breath whilst sleeping. My wife says I stop breathing for up to 30 secs whilst asleep and then wake up with shortness of breath, which Encourages anxiety!!!
Thank-you for replying. I hope you can ask about your meds being adjusted when you're fitted to the CPAP if you are going there to pick-up the equipment and have the training session. If they are 'no-contact' delivering it, I hope you will telephone to the medic who prescribed your meds and talk with him/her about adjusting the dose at least of the beta blocker. Sometimes it takes a wee while to get the dosages right and you've already had it dropped from 7.5mg to 5mg, it may be you can go down to 2.5mg but only your doctor or cardiac nurse (if you have one) can take that decision.
All the best, and please keep us posted on your progress!
I am withdrawing from Bisoprolol as the side effects were so severe and never went away. I would speak to GP or cardiologist ASAP as there are many alternatives you can have without such severe side effects
Not to hijack Dorper's discussion but it's good to hear from you. I hope your withdrawal is progressing better than the last I heard from you.
Hi Sunnie2day
My withdrawal is going very very slowly dropping by 0.02mgs every 5 to 7 days. Worse effect is waking at 2.45am every morning with anxious jitters why I don’t know because I am not normally an anxious person but the longer I stay on the same dosage the milder the jitters get. Worked out I won’t be free from this awful medication until at least end of year.
Hope you are keeping safe in this awful time and thank you for your thoughtfulness and concern
Thank-you for the update, Nannyknitting although I wish your withdrawal process would progress much easier for you. Waking at 0'DarkThirty is never pleasant but to have the jitters on top of it must be awful.
We're fine here - my husband thinks he's in Heaven having to social distance, lol!
