Donations to NHS

I have just listened to a news report on Money being Donated to the NHS, I have donated every month of my working life since starting work at 15 to 60 .

My personal opinion is that as a Nation we are a little lost on what to do. Andy Burnham was on this morning saying we have taken Homeless People off the streets and put them in Hotels !! OK Andy what do we do next when this is over turf them back out onto the street.

I just think we are wrong to be donating to the NHS, money better spent on the BHF, Marie Currie or your Local Hospice.

Not everyone in the NHS is Frontline , and everyone is getting paid 100% not a lot of people in the country getting that, only TV presenters and Footballers !!

Just think the World has turned upside down !!

I found myself nodding my head in agreement with your post, Prada. I have been hearing about the donations and my first thought was 'Really? How exactly is money donated to the NHS going to be used when the NHS is not a charity, it is funded by our NI.'

(Cue the 'how could you?! replies)

I can see the 'Make Scrubs' donations of home-sewn scrubs as I saw a report yesterday medics are going through as many as ten sets per shift and commercially available sets are more scarce than hens teeth. (Home sewers - Google it, join a group, and lower your presser feet:) ) but cash?

I donate money to GOSH, BHF, MSF, and a few other charities. But donating money to the NHS doesn't make sense to me. I'm quite happy to be corrected so if anyone can enlighten me I hope they will speak up.

I tend to agree with your thoughts but it is my understanding that donations to NHS go to your local NHS trusts. This will in a small way include Cardio wards.

Totally agree Prada, I’m not giving my hard earn cash to a government institution, paid enough tax and NI during my working life.

I do give to charity generally to those who do research etc

The heart of the matter is where does it go, but more importantly where will it end, a monthly subscription to the NHS.

I'm sorry but brilliant as it may be, it is always top heavy pen pushing Management earning the big 💰+ .

Spend well on Charity Ahem?🤔

Ps I donate here & another +.😜

The NHS isn't an entire harmonious organisation. Trusts are all independent and cover different hospitals, gp surgeries, care groups etc.

It is better to find a hospital or charity that means something to you and donate it that way.

One has to draw the line somewhere?🤔

Front line staff. 👍

Sorry I feel I should answer your reply as the original poster, the only point being made is the NHS Is second only to the Chinese Army in numbers of employees. It is a mammoth Govt organisation that does not require Charity Donations for support of Staff. I have nothing to be ashamed of in suggesting Charity should be shared or go to Organisations that are Charities, That was my issue. If " Capt Tom " wishes to walk up and down his Garden raising money fine. I just wish he would do it for a good cause, and not be on some ones Bandwagon.

Please feel free to donate to anything you personally want to ( as I do ) but don't be afraid to question something you need clarity on !!!

Regards

I see Capt Tom is past the £ 4 million just think a Million to Marie Currie a Million to the BHF a Million to his local Hospices and a Million to the NHS now that's worthwhile. Rather than some obscure NHS that's all that is being said.

I agree with you. In 2010 I was a Patient for Patient Safety Champion volunteer working in the NHS on behalf the World health Organisation, The NICE organisation was allowed to turf us out because they did not want whistle blowers! I think it is Holland or Denmark where the insurance sector pay for 200 champions. The NHS is a secret society run by a corrupt Government. Thank God for the BHF!

Good description of NHS. Government (as in many other cases) has a lot to answer for!

Absolutely agree NHS workers are only doing a job which they have because of all the subscriptions we all pay. Well done for speaking out on this!
