State of the NHS

I'm in hospital having had a 2nd HA.

Firstly I have to say that all of the staff here are amazing. They're keeping going in the face of an awful situation and I admire them all.

The NHS is at breaking point though. I'm waiting for an urgent angiogram. This can't be done in my local hospital as covid is in the Ccu (I'm being kept in the short stay ward along with other hearties). The hospital that is nearest and part of the same trust has no capacity in their ccu. It's looking like it'll be next week before I can hopefully be sent to newcross hospital ccu for the angiogram.

I was queued outside in the ambulance when I came here for 3 hours and got in quite quickly by comparison due to the urgency of my condition.

This isn't a moan or a complaint. I think everyone is doing all they can but clearly the system is near breaking point. I hate to think what a cold winter could do..

How on earth have we allowed our NHS to get to this? And why when we can throw £150m at the banks every month are we accepting nurses getting pay cuts and this government?!

Bit of a rant but I'm not well, down in the dumps and I have had to get this off my chest!

Sorry to hear you’re not well and unhappy about the situation. It’s good to rant sometimes. I made notes when I was waiting to be seen. Reading them back I sounded like Mrs Angry. Try to keep calm and don’t worry. No point in making yourself more ill. I hope you get seen soon and have a good outcome. Take care.

Very understandable. But bear up! They will get you what you need, if more slowly. And you are in a safe place where they can keep a good eye on you in the meantime. I agree with you, it’s a wonderful service, great staff. But under such real pressure. I’ve experienced that myself and i know how scary that can be for us.

I’m not going to wax lyrical on the politics of the situation.

I could. But I won’t! Not here.

But do keep posting, let us know how you get on.

Snoweybm,

Get well soon and don’t worry about the politics of the world.

There is little we the common folk can do to change the situation and it’s been a bigger problem for a longer time than we have ever realised.

You must concentrate on you, go on be selfish and just think of yourself, get better, get strong for you your friends and loved ones.

Then once your strong again you can, if you wish, join us common folk to change the world or maybe just relax into it and enjoy all its beauty and failings.

The choice is yours and yours alone, just don’t give up fighting for that choice you have earned it.

Take care my thoughts are with you.

You have my greatest sympathy. A family member is currently in her 27th hour in A&E with suspected appendicities, I won't bore you with the details but it is a horror story, just left unattended for hours. I know it won't fix the problem but all the more reason why we all need as immunised as possible, say no more.
