Read an interesting piece today from a UK doctor. Actually made me feel a little more optimistic. Made me realise that there’s more to this than our prior health.
According to him, one of the factors on how ill you get is ‘viral load’ - essentially how large your first dose is. Smaller loads are more easily dealt with and recovered from.
A closed room full of sick people can mean your first dose is a tough one for the immune system to deal with.
Implications - it’s not just our prior health dictating how well we survive it. So we do have some levers to pull. Windows open, fresh air, circulation are all good.
If you have a sick family member, don’t assume you can only catch it or not catch it.....they can shed a lot or a little. So stay away best you can - different rooms for majority of the day.
If we are going to catch it - go for lightest dose possible.
