After all the confusion yesterday and today as regards what this entails the NHS has posted a document this evening setting out the position.

You're welcome. I've been hunting all over for something since 17.30 - think it's only been put on site in the last hour - poor organisation skills here, they've known what Boris was going to say since early afternoon - this should have been ready to go the minute he stopped speaking - in much the same way the budget is online almost immediately the Chancellor sits down!

Head above the parapet moment....Whilst I agree with you ( & I’m sure they’ll improve) I’d just like to put in a word for our much maligned civil service, who are the ones doing all this - analysing research, briefing Ministers and CMO putting together advice for 111 etc. The service has been cut back and cut back over many years. And I'm sure everyone is doing the best they can with the skills & resources they have. Oh & the Budget is a cycle which has evolved over a lifetime. This is all unprecedented. Stay well folks 🙂

Thank you for finding that makes one feel slightly better at the moment.

You beat me to it. I had just exchanged with a few friends. One says it feels like being on a cruise on the Titanic!

Hi Lesley

You're welcome. This document seems to make it quite clear. Sadly Matt Hancock made a total pills of it yesterday when he suggested "self isolation" . This document does not suggest this, the over 70s and those of us with the conditions listed just need to use common sense and avoid close contact with people, avoid crowds etc, we don't need to lock ourselves way for 12 weeks. It's probably not going to be great but at least spring is just around the corner so I'll be out in my garden and out walking - but gym, football matches, pubs, restaurants are a no no!

Stay well

Russell x

Does the summary at the bottom of the article help?

I'm just not sure if I fall into the vulnerable catagory, i think I do from reading the threads etc i have bicuspid aortic valve, mild aortic stenosis and mild regurgitation, am 37 and fit and well otherwise, no symptoms except when I was pregnant..

Telephone your GP surgery. Say you understand they are probably overwhelmed with other telephone calls but you need urgently to know definitively if you are 'vulnerable' or not considering your specific condition and the only person who can give you that answer is your GP - can you please get a five minute telephone consult, or an email exchange on an urgent basis. Remind her/him the deadline for this is Saturday morning so this is urgent.

Worth a try in these unusual times.

Thank you so much for posting. Am going into work (I teach) to tell my pupils that I’m going to be away for a bit. Although I planned to leave at the end of summer term I’m not sure at the moment financially whether we can. I’ve got chronic asthma, heart disease and chronic kidney disease. A triple whammy one might say.

Please take care everybody. We can have virtual coffee/tea/gin and tonics on here and keep everyone’s spirits up. MichaelJH will provide the jokes (I hope!) Mx

Thank you x

Thanks for that info. However I am thinking of getting a bell to ring and shouting "unclean, unclean" at anybody who gets to close to me. However if the weather improves my garden will benefit. It's an ill wind!

I was thinking a huge red 'broken heart' patch on my clothes, but the bell and shout are so much easier:)

I'm a keen gardener anyway, but suspect that once the weather starts to warm up, my garden could be in the Chelsea Flower Show category!

Mine too Spirit.I`ve never got enough time or energy to do everything so now it`s time for gardening, decorating even ironing. No,I`d have to be very bored to do that.Family are bringing me supplies and a friend is sneaking in the booze.Still walking the dog cos the place is deserted. No Airbnb,my life just got easier.

Just to let you all know the National Trust has opened up everywhere free of charge and no car park fees. At these challenging times we need fresh air and it will lift your mental health and promote your mental well being. Just keep social distancing!
