I imagine by skipped beats you mean ectopic beats. A friend has eliminated his by eliminating caffeine, alcohol, chocolate and spicy food which can all be triggers. I would suggest you give this a go.

Unfortunately I drink caffeine and sometimes alcohol. Honestly I don't enjoy life without caffeine. Anyway thanks for your advice.

I have ectopic beats. I was advised to stop caffeine, which I've done. I've also cut back on alcohol but haven't eliminated it. Dr told me a glass of red wine at weekends is fine, so that's what I do. I don't tend to eat spicy food but I eat some chocolate. I'm also on bisoprolol. Waiting to see if cutting out caffeine and increased bisoprolol is doing the trick. Bisoprolol alone at 5mg made some impact but not enough. I do get very tired at times.

I to get these boots as a result of my heart Failure . I cannot be sure but they seem to be improving with the medication. They can be something to worry about but they don’t have to be. If they are very common and frequent and your cardiologist has cause for concern you could have the device fitted in your chest to protect you from heart attack. However in many people this is simply not necessary some of the other posters are right certain foods or drinks can trigger episodes of this as can stress and becoming worked up about things (try not to do that) as regards alcohol, I do not say all but some of the advice given is relating to the fact that alcohol combined with the medicines can drop your blood pressure severely. I would think that if you hooked yourself up to a blood pressure machine and drunk a quarter of a litre of wine or perhaps 1 1/2 beers you could monitor yourself and I think you would find you will be okay. I’m not drinking at the moment but when I go away in the summer I plan to do this. Bingeing on vodka and tonic et cetera is a no no go Good luck to you my friend

I have PAfib and also had loads of ectopics . These stopped ( the ones I could feel) when the Dr changed me from Sotalol to Flecainide and Bisoprolol. So I don't think the Bisoprolol causes ( but if course maybe it affects you differently) Bisoprolol is also known to cause tiredness. Some people suggest taking it at night to diminish fatigue in the day. But if course speak to your Dr first if you decide to make changes 😊

Take care

It is possible that you may not be having ectopic beats.

If you have developed Stage 2 AV block, your heart will skip beats and you will feel tired and dizzy. I had these symptoms before being diagnosed with Mobitz type 2 block and was fitted with a pacemaker. I strongly suggest you see your cardiologist for an ECG as Stage 2 AV block is potentially very serious without treatment.

Sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you. Heart block is where the atria beat normally, but not all the electrical activity is passed on to the ventricles and the result is that beats are missed. The type that I have caused me to black out and was spotted by the paramedic in the ambulance. No one seems to know exactly what causes it, but there are several risk factors, use of beta blockers being one of them.

You may not have heart block, but it is worth having it checked out just in case.
