Heart failure and palpitations. Skipped/ectopic beats on the regular. Daily. Is this normal?

I have always had palpitations sinces my mid 20s when i first noticed them alongside a panic disorder. Since then i have managed them pretty well and ignore most with the odd occasion where they catch me off guard with either a cluster of them together making me feel a little flushed or the ones where it actually feels like the heart stops for a few seconds.. Over the years they calmed right down due to exercise.

Anyways. Since having a suspected heart attack and diagnosed with severe heart failure (now moderate with ef 40%), are palpitations are normal thing for most of you? Are they regular as in daily occurrence and sometimes non stop, as many as 5 per minute? Are they nothing to worry about or a sign of worse things to come? Anything that helps them? Herbal teas? Meds? Whats your experiences?

Thanks Si

Hi theonethatgotaway

Some palpitations can be harmless although with your history your right to be concerned have you told your cardiologist how many you been having and how long they last and if you been having symptoms like light headedness and short of breath. I had the Same issue ( minus the heart failure and low EF) but I noticed it alot it was affecting my life so Id had enough I didn't stop until something was done about it and fast forward bout a year and many many holter monitors I am on verapamil 40mg for my ventricular Tachycardia. Hope you get some answers as to why this is happening. Take care! ❤️

Just bear in mind that panic disorder never totally g oes away, you just learn to control it and it c ould be possible that anxiety about y our suspected heart attack etc could be triggering it again albeit mildly and you may not even notice it. However with your history I would certainly discuss then with your GP or cardiologist

Yeh possibly. I do notice them more whilst im resting or not doing much. I suppose when i am active or say playing a computer game i do notice them there but not as anxious. So i know it is linked but not sure if its the causes this time round. Who knows. I will speak to the doc soon of they don't settle. Get another monitor. Thank you

Since I have gone back up to 40%ef my palpitations have virtually stopped.

Thats great! Yeh my episodes come and go. Ill get them real bad for a week or so then they seem to calm for a while. I honestly don't know where i am at with them. My ef went up to 44% and last time they checked they said it declined slightly. So these beats and the aniexity that comes with it are main symptoms.

Was there anything in particular that helped improve your ef?
