Out of the tunnel at last, and into the light!!!

Hi everyone, thought l would share a positive post. Today is the third anniversary of my AVR redo with a 11 hour operation after the first one failed due to infective endocarditis and when my Hero Consultant surgeon dragged me back from the brink of death. l now am a different "me" but l have embraced that and live life to the full. My Husband and l follow "the vinyl avengers" around the country and stay at hotels close to where they are appearing. We are going to Lassi in Kefalonia for 2 weeks in June and on the motorbike to Brittany and the Normandy beaches in September with a group of friends (watch the film, Wild Hogs,to get the picture) lt has been a long s**t crawl to get out of that tunnel but l've done it and so can all of you, please NEVER give up. On a foot note l had my hair cut yesterday into a shorter spikey style which takes years off me all my mates say so l am definitely basking in the light. Thanks to everyone here on this site for all your support, advice, and empathy which helped me so greatly in the darkest times over the past three years. Still a bit anxious about a unexpected hospital appointment next week but hoping it is just a catch up, all sorts of stupid things go through your mind like is my mechanical heart valve from a faulty batch like the whirlpool tumble dryers and l will catch on fire, l have an extinguisher if that happens so no worries ha ha. Take care one and all, Sue xxx

Brilliant post, so positive. No idea who or what vinyl avengers are but sounds like you've got a busy year ahead, enjoy it.

Hi Lezzers, they are a couple of Djs who play only vinyl records, Motown, northern soul and ska (madness etc) wherever they are the whole pub comes alive, locals included. We stumbled upon them in a café at Goodrington sands, and its such a lovely atmosphere. They travel all around the country and even go abroad, we are going to see them and various other acts for a teenage cancer charity on 28th March at Paignton, such fun, (no stalking !!!)

Excellent post. I think we're all a different "me" after kissing death on the cheek and going back into the light.

I'd wondered whether you're name was connected to holidays in Greece - now I know. Never been to Kefalonia, might have a try during this summer. I've fallen in love with Parga just over on the mainland the last few years, sadly had to cancel my trip last year, but will be on the first flight of the season on Sunday 3rd May for 2 weeks, and just last night booked a further 2 weeks at the end of the season on 20th September. Enjoy your journeys.

Never been to Parga, most of the other Greek lslands, might investigate. My goal this year is to learn on the internet how to Dance Zorba the Greek. l will pretend l don't know it when the waiters drag me up, and then l will smash it big time and become very big headed.

Well done you. What an uplifting post.I must try harder also very envious, love Kefalonia and if you can do Zorba the Greek after all you`ve been through you should be very proud of yourself and as big headed as you like. All the best xx

Thanks mate, l love Kefalonia and all things Greek especially their music and food. We know the Greek saying "polli megala stomachi" probably spelt wrong, it means massive fat stomach. This is in reply when the waiters ask if you would like more food, they all love it anywhere and roar with laughter, try it. Sue.

Crikey, its more difficult than l thought but l will try very hard to succeed. Thanks for the link, watch on you tube, Zorba Flash mob, its all around and all sorts of people achieve it so can l. l was so gutted as they did it in Bristol where l live and l missed seeing it. Maybe when they do it again l will be leading, ha ha. Sue.
