I have been prescribed Sertraline today by my GP as I have been feeling very low after having my HA in April when I had 3 stents I had a further 3 stents fitted in November and a further 3 in January
I was wondering if anybody is taking these and have experienced any different side effects then what is stated while taking there normal medication?
Thanks

My son has been on it twice now and has all sorts of odd side effects, extreme tiredness at first and vomiting; he suddenly starts to get emotions back that he hasn't had for ages; occasional panic attacks, loss of libido, difficulty sleeping at night yet falling asleep during the day. They last about 3 weeks and then start to taper off. I'm sure you know not to stop it suddenly.
I had been on and off of Citalopram since 2002 and finally came off of them in 2015 has I had lost my mum and wife within the space of a week they both had terminal cancer I also had my 2 year old son to look after
I was hoping that I could have been put back on Citalopram but due to the conflicts with that and my heart medicaton it safer with these new ones
I know that when I had the Citalopram that I had horrible side effects for the first few weeks so I am expecting the same with these however my GP said that I can start with half the dose to see how I get on
The first time on them my son felt dreadful and couldn't understand why. This time he's recognising the feelings as side effects and knows they will wear off. He's only on the smallest dose to start with. He suffers badly from SAD.
Hi, I am afraid that this has been for me the worse medication I have ever been on. I had a heart attack over a year ago and recently began suffering anxiety due to lots going on in my life. I was aware Setraline can make you worse before making you better but oh my! I can honestly say I have never felt so ill in my life. This was with only taking a total of 7 tablets. My anxiety was like nothing I had experience before and ended up with a massive panic in the dr surgery! I was immediately taken off them and after two days felt back to myself. We can only use our own experiences and some I’m sure are fine with it but I most definitely wasn’t. I hope you tolerate it as I’m told it’s great once it’s settled?
Hiya I had a similar experience with Ramipril just after I had my HA I was feeling not to bad to start with while in hospital as soon as I got home they just made me so ill
I have been feeling quite low for awhile and hoping that in a few weeks that I start to feel an improvement
I hope you have turned the corner and can seen an Improvement
Ive taken Sertraline for 2 yr. My doc warned me in the beginning it usually causes intermittent nausea. I did have that for a couple weeks but no big problem. Now I dont have any side effects. I think it helps me with my anxiety/ depression.
I just have to say Mr Grumpy... if the medication works for you, are you going to change your name to Mr Happy😉😂. Sorry, couldnt help myself.
It definitely takes some to get used to them, I would say a couple of weeks at least. I also struggled with side effects and after several days thought about stopping taking them but then I've been advised to half the dose for a week to make the transitioning easier. Now looking back it certainly benefited my mental health..
