SPIRONOLACTONE

I used to take Furesemide which used to make me rather lightheaded and feeling tired. The consultant has changed this for Spironolactone 25 mg, it seems to be OK but I keep feeling very itchy on my Back and my arm. Cannot see any Rash though. I wonder if anyone has experienced this itchiness whilst taking this Pill.

I also started taking, at the same time the, Nebivolol 1,5 mg. I don't know why, but I feel it's the Spironolactone that is causing the itching, or I may be wrong. Any ideas??

My husband takes both furosemide and a more specific relation of spironolactone. Important to have regular blood tests to make sure organs are coping with excreting it/ them. Theoretically as they are diuretics ( make you pee more) you should lose wt.

Husband does nod off in the evenings more than he did but has a collection of maladies that could cause that regardless of pills.

Hi Bagrat, thanks for your reply. I have gone back on to the Furesemide, yes it makes me dizzy at times but could not stand the 'Itching' . I do feel it was the Spironolactone that caused the 'itching', although I was also started on 'Nebivolol' 1.5 mg at the same time. I am just waiting to see what happens.

I do wish doctors could take things steady and change one thing at a time!

Yeah, me too!! They can't be bothered to explain things. And the GP is always in a rush to get you out the door.

My GP seems fairly sound but it often ends up with me asking for what I would like in the way of bloods ECG etc and she says "Sounds reasonable" and off I go!!

I’ve been taking Spirolactone for over 3 yrs. Can’t say I’ve had any side effects. I was on Furosemide as well initially on diagnosis but was taken off when I started getting dizzy spells.

I did put on weight in the second yr but have lost the weight I put on.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. As I have just said to 'Bagrat' I went back on the Furesemide and see what happens. It is just like I've been told, I do need to take these tablets for my problem, whether I like it or not!! Life!!
