So....I feel like a disaster zone. Had a check up at the opticians yesterday (yay them, working on a Sunday).
I’ve come away with a diagnosis of early Macular Degeneration, the Dry variant.
As usual, when he showed me the pictures, I reacted happily and nonchalantly. I have heard of it but not bothered to find out any more than the name.
It’s actually not that fab, is it? Surprise surprise obviously associated with cardiovascular disease, cholesterol and high BP...and bizarrely my bright blue eyes.
So now the song is ‘please make my blue eyes brown’.
Does anyone have any experience of this?

I was diagnosed in 2018, after I (unrelated) spent 2 weeks in hospital for DVT/PE, and GI bleeding, along with all my other health issues. I left my doctor's office a blubbering idiot because A) Macular degeneration sucks, B) My father had it so I know how it can suck, C) I wasn't expecting more bad health news, D) My usually cheerful and humorous demeanor couldn't take anymore so I lost it for a moment.
I couldn't even talk to my husband because I had tears welling up in my eyes, plus my eyes had been dilated and the sun was beaming down, so he just kept asking "What is wrong?" until we got in the car and I let loose...LOL!
I have taken eye vitamins for years, not sure if they help or not but my doctor did say my Mac D is stable, so I guess they are keeping it from progressing. Other than that, I try to eat & live healthy as possible, don't know what else to do besides keep a good sense of humor, it's truly the best medicine!
