Hi...i know its a bit of a postcode lottery, but how long did any of you have to wait for an angiogram/angioplasty? I have a 'significant blockage' but not had a HA. Am waiting to have it done at Papworth. Just wondering if it will be 3 months, 6 months.. A year? Took 8 months to get this far.
Thank you xx

Thank you for replying. Maybe I will. I don't like to as I know I am not the only one. Problem is, I need to be well as I am a full time carer for my husband. Maybe 2020 will be a healthy one for us all 😁
Sadly cardiac services are seriously overloaded and will I think continue to be so. How was the "significant blockage" determined? My set were defined by the angiogram. Do give them a call next week as they are probably very busy with emergencies in this holiday period. It is always worth the occasional call as you can be misplaced. I had to chase up my rehab referral as I doubt it would have happened otherwise. Good luck.
Remember to plan care for your husband in the post angiogram /stent period.
It’s very frustrating to be waiting - how do you know you’ve got a blockage if you haven’t had angiogram?
I found there was a 2 month wait between steps, but actually I was feeling better and better as time went on, because the drugs they gave me made my condition much easier to cope with. I’ve just had my triple bypass, came home in Christmas Eve, and feel fantastic- truly- so don’t despair, you’ll be fine,
By the way, anxiety and depression are very common effects of initial diagnosis, so be kind to yourself, take space and you’ll get through.
Hi.. Thank you for your reply. Glad you are feeling better. What a lovely Xmas preeent for you! The blockage has been found via perfusion scans. Apparently a difficult one to find. X
Oh my word! That must have been a shock. I have never had a heart attack but have been told that there are loads of different symptoms. It's weird but I have had terrible pain in my left shoulder!! You didn't have any chest tightness or fatigue prior to the attacks. They are my symptoms, thus the need for a stent.
I hope you are starting to recover. Here's hoping that 2020 is a good healthy year for you X
6 years after diagnosis 60% blockage lad ! Went in for angio 3 times but was sent home each time due to emergencies. Sat waiting for a bed in CCU for 4 1/2 days - angio showed 100% blockage. I'd phone the consultant's secretary and ask and explain why. For 3 months prior to the ha pains were definitely going through to my back. Take Care, They're busy but you need to find out how busy. Consider seeing your consultant privately for a consultation - if there's anything untoward happening he'll refer you back to himself on the nhs. You're worth it 🙏🏽
That's awful! Hope all is OK now. My consultant I have seen twice is a locum. He has referred me to another consultant for the angiogram and stent. I assumed I would have to see him first and spoke to his secretary who has informed me that he does not need to see me for an initial consultation, only to have the procedure. X
My partner was first diagnosed in February, angiogram was in September (he did get lost in the system during this time) but stents were unable to be placed due to compications.
So 7 months! That's not good! Then to not have it done. Hope your partner is being treated. Good luck to you both. Hope this is a good new year for you X
