Diagnosed with DCM before 1& 1/2 years. On fluid & salt restriction with medications. For the past 10 days severely suffering from joint inflammation and swelling. My doctor after checking my serum uric acid levels 9.8 mg/dl christened it as GOUT.
Can you please throw some light on this from your enlightened knowledge and experience.
Thanks & anxiously awaiting please
With utmost regards

Vivi, I both sympathise and emphasise as gout can be so painful. I was diagnosed with gout last Spring . A steroid injection followed by a 3 week course of oral steroids (Prednisolone) at 5mg a day worked its magic for me. My consultants wished to avoid the conventional medications due to me already being very sensitive to many medications and on a fair amount of pills already. Also a good idea to look up foods that aggravate gout and try and avoid or at least restrict them. Good luck!
My hubby has had attacks of your since he had a 💓 transplant almost eight years ago. Usually a few days on Prednisolone clears it up, although sometimes it can take a week.
He was advised that a glass of cherry juice every day helps to keep it at bay. That was about six years ago and it seems to work as he now suffers with it only once a year.
His doctor recommended that he eliminate foods with purines which tax the kidneys and cause uric acid to build up in your body. That is the cause of Gout and also the culprit to joint arthritis.
The first step is to look at your diet. You can Goggle Foods that cause Gout.
My husband adapted a low purine diet and takes a small dose of Allopurinol every day to reduce the uric acid.
His doctor prescribed Colcrys to take when he has Gout flare ups. This medication works quickly and is a miracle drug for my husband. The worse pain he says is gout pain. For him it’s the Big Toe.
You may want to ask your doctor about these two medications.
Gout should not be ignored. It can lead to long term kidney disease.
