Hi, you seem pretty upbeat despite all you have been through, well done!!! lt is lovely to hear from people whose aortic valve has lasted a long time, l had mine done nearly three years ago, thanks. You will get great support from the lovely people on this site and answers to any questions. Hope you enjoy your hobbies but please wrap up warmly. Take care, Sue.
Hi Kefalonia1 Sue,
Thank you very much. It is good to talk with people who are in the same boat. Hopefully we are headed for Kefalonia. I understand it is on a beautiful island.
Hi, please visit Kefalonia it really is a beautiful lsland. Next year my Husband and l are going to the resort of Lassi in Kefalonia. We always go with TUI and choose from their "small and friendly" range. lt sounds silly but we try to eat in tavernas who have "Mama" still cooking in the kitchen, with help of course. Traditional Greek food is amazing. l'm sure you will continue to move forward, you have given a great boost to us mechanical tickers on this site, cheers!!! Take care, Sue.
Hello! You sound amazingly positive after all you have been through. Well done! I will pass on the fact that your valve had lasted so long to a friend who had one a few years ago. May it last many years yet.
Amazing to hear you had a replacement heart valve in 1982! I had mine replaced in 2014 and hope mine lasts as long as yours does. Have you been taking warfarin since then too?
Welcome @yorkshirehead, glad you’re here, how come the ICD was fitted the year after? Mine got implanted a few weeks after my first cardiac arrest but your valve replacement comment gives me hope for mine!
Hi
Fantastic to hear from someone who has had an AVR for so long. Also great that you are living such an active life. I had an AVR 6 months ago - still recovering. I am quite young - early 50’s - I guess you were quite young when you had the operation too?
Hi, I was 29 and had 2 lads. One just coming up to two and the other 6 months. It was a very testing time, especially for my wife.
In total contrast I am writing this in a play centre in Gloucester where my 4 grandchildren are enjoying the soft play and the 4 parents and 2 grandparents are enjoying a cup of coffee. It is bedlam but also wonderful!
