Merry Christmas (but not too merry) and a happy healthy New Year Michael

December will mean a couple of drinks as it's my birthday month. I tend to limit myself to a 250ml glass of wine, 1.5 pints or a couple of malts. I used to get irritated as a kid as people would say we have combined both presents but in reality spent 110 - 125% rather than 200 %! Another irritation was cards like Christmas ones with "p.s. Happy Birthday". It doesn't happen these days as Christmas presents are limited to close family and birthday ones to family and two close friends. 😎

Yes having a birthday in December can be a bit of a downer. My best friend's wife has a birthday on 1st January so also misses out.

1st January is probably the absolute pits if you want to celebrate your birthday as most people will still be hungover from the night before!

I think that this year I'll be following your advice of quality rather than quantity

Feel a lucky boy as my birthday is in June! We usually go out for a meal and if the weather is good eat outside with the sun going down as we finish off! :)

I know someone of 98 who is the primary carer for his wife. Their son is 67!

I thought I was being generous to, but now I need to go to A & E to have the bump over my eye sorted where she hit me when she threw the M & S Catalogue. No she is not staying up late I need to go to bed early with my Bad Heart and I need tucking in !!!

Oh yes - mine is Christmas Eve. I had to "train" the family - no Birthday presents wrapped in Christmas paper please. Lets hope the New Year is good to us all.

Christmas Tree was put up today as well. 😀

Happy Christmas to all of you on here.

My daughter’s birthday is on 28th December, the same day as my late mother. Over the years we always made sure that their birthdays were celebrated on that day by going out for a family meal or having a party at home. There was always a separate present as well to make sure they didn’t miss out.

Same to you Jean. Have a lovely day the 28th. With happy and sad memories i guess. I lost my Mom December 21st 1990. But xmas as never been the same since. I always go away now. Hope you have a good week too Brian

I lost my Dad 21 December 1985 and like you, feel Christmas has never been the same. I usually spend the day quietly remembering him.

Think we never forget our parents. But nearer xmas just seems to make it much harder

Thanks Brian, I do know how you feel, my mum died on the 18th December 2008, she was 80. & 10 days away from her 81st Birthday. My brother managed to arrange her funeral for 30th December so that it wasn’t on 28th especially for my daughter’s sake. It was a sad Christmas that year.

All the best to you.

Jean

Sadly with my Mom dying so close to xmas. With delay in the death cert. Then places closed over xmas, meant it dragged on into the new year for the funeral. When you just want to get it over with, and your loved 1 at peace. Xxx

Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!

I have finally given the big Christmas tree, that was a devil to get out of the loft, to someone on Freegle and I’ve bought a smaller, pre lit one which is so easy to put together, wish I’d done it years ago. It’s all about making life easier now for us Hearties.
