Following extensive open heart surgery last year and a TAVI this year, I booked my first holiday in two years.
I have been scared of the thought of all that walking and dragging luggage so booked assistance at both Gatwick and Lanzarote Airport.
I wish I had done it before! We were fast tracked through security, passport control and boarding and my luggage was carried for me. Wheelchairs were arranged if necessary which it is at Lanzarote Airport because the coaches are a fair distance and uphill.
The service can be arranged through your Travel Agent , is completely free and leaves you refreshed and ready for your holiday!
I am planning a long weekend in York which involves two trains so let's see if the National Railway is as good. I'm sure it will be.

Do this a lot, not for me but the other half - for flying well looked after by EasyJet & Jet2. Spanish airports really up to the job as is our local one at Newcastle. Rail can be a bit iffy but if going to York then I have found LNER and previous incarnations have been good. Least said about Northern Rail & TP Express the better - although wife did get to see more of the countryside than she had paid for as they forgot about her.
Let the world be your oyster. One place I can recommend is Fuengirola - you fly into Malaga, cross the road & go down into the train station, train arrives and wife drives on with scooter, get off 30 minutes later. Fuengirola is flat and you can do about 5/7 miles or so along the promenade & plenty of places to eat or drink along the way. Even got sunburnt on Boxing Day.
Depends which train company it is. I hgad assistance to Leeds with Northern Rail; not good, turned up late but when going to London on Virgin, they were fantastic; even brought a motorised luggage truck to take me and wheelchair to the taxi rank.
