Something Strange

Have been on painkillers for a wk & a half, just realised that they have lowered my heart rate to the top end of normal: found this out by getting a smart watch & it checked it or is it out due to the fact that it's to low on my wrist? Wear it right on the wrist

Mine just doesn’t record if it’s too loose, it doesn’t record lover.

Mine is on fairly tight, as worry about them falling off

There is always a possibility of an interaction between medications. For instance I should not take Naproxen (commonly perscribed for arthritis) with my ACE inhibitor (Lisinopril) as it reduces its effectiveness (Lisinopril) and may strain the kidneys (not particularly desirable in those with diabetes). It is always worth running things past a pharmacist. The medications you are on and the painkiller may give a clue if you are happy to name them.

I was on Naproxen, but finished the course last night, the tablets are: Quetiapine, Cinnazarine, Topiramate, Mebervine, Mertazapine, Stementil, The pill starting Deo

Think I may have forgotten a couple

Apologies, somehow forgot to reply. They are medications I have no experience of. But it is worth running your observations past your pharmacist.

That's OK, it was reading fine yesterday, but again giving a low reading today, must be wearing it wrong or it ain't picking up every heart beat

I purchased an Apple Watch 4 with EKG function a few weeks ago and was surprised that my resting pulse drops to the low 40’s at night and 45-50 when resting. I mentioned this to the rehab nurse who organised a 24hr BP/pulse monitor and it confirmed the watch readings were accurate.

As I feel fine with the slow pulse and my blood pressure is the normal range the cardiologist did not change my meds. I am on Bisoprolol 2.5mg along with the usual statins and blood thinners. I was advised not to overly check my pulse so much. ☺️

Mine is an Huawei Sport watch, but when I check by hand with a clock, it's right, the same when go doctors or hospital, haven't been to the last 2 since getting the watch though

In my experience pain usually increases blood pressure due to the stress caused by the pain therefore anything that reduces the pain then reduces stress. Hence a lower blood pressure.

So see what happens when the painkillers are out of my system? That's my thought. It is fast normally without pain though

I have loads of pills making sure my blood pressure IS SLOW 😉

My blood pressure is normally ok, so perhaps it was the painkillers, guess they're still slightly in my system
