What would you do please?

Hello can you please help me I have been on heart medication for 4 years to stop ectopic heart beats ( flecinide) I have 48% ectopic beats a day ( almost 50,000 extra beats a day I know a lot yet I don’t feel it thank god!)

With medication 47% ectopic beats a day I whopping 1% drop

Ideally doctors want it below 20%

Would you continue the medicine with 1% drop only? 4 years day and night and only 1% drop is exhausting?

Hi Layla321, Have you considered phoning the BHF nurses on this site and talking it through with them to see what their advice is.

Agree with Lezzers about calling BHF nurses as they will have more experience and yours is particularly. I have two friends with the problem - one is controlled by medication whilst the other manages with no caffeine, no chocolate and no more than one glass of wine at birthdays and Christmas.

Is that including dark chocolate?

Apparently dark chocolate is the worst one for this condition. Rather annoying because otherwise the anti-oxidants make it the best!

My sister lost ectopic beats by cutting out coffee and reading labels regards the dreaded caffeine!! Best of luck to you xxx

Thank you for your replies! I got a 3rd opinion from a cardiologist and his words were “ medicines are not working stay off them” it’s a waste of time and just get annual checks. It’s worrying to know I’m not protecting myself but I will listen to him. And I happy I’m not swallowing pills for the sake of it.

Hi jo I used those as well and only 2-3% drop if any. It’s like my heart is stubborn and no medicine works. The recent doctor said it’s just my heart rhythm and if it was too cause damage would have long ago? He said the chances it will just be like this all my life? I just don’t want a weak hard 🙏🏼 The fact I have never felt it even though I have almost 50,000 a day baffles doctors also. Always back of my mind. My motto is keep busy and try not to over think it❤️🌷

I trust god won’t let it damage my heart 🙏🏼
