CRT-D “Under the muscle”

Hi, I’m due to have a pacemaker under the muscle as I am apparently too skinny to have it in the usual place.

Can anyone tell me how this affects recovery time?

I’m a teacher at a secondary school and would like to know when I can go back to work.

Are there any other complications I need to be aware off?

Hi, there's a closed facebook group called ICD-crtd support uk, someone there may know the answer to your questions, or the pumping marvellous support group. My husband has an ICD, he's sits on top of the muscle and it does stick out quite a bit.

Under the muscle does take longer but I suspect it’s different for everyone. My husband has one on top of the muscle and it sticks out and I think that makes the psychological effects more to deal with. Check the group Lezzers suggests. If you were otherwise fit I’d say 3 weeks for over the muscle but it’ll depend on you.
