I had a SCA in December last year and since then when I stand up I suddenly get dizzy spells.
Over the last month these dizzy spells have resulted in actually passing out twice.
I have seen my GP about this in the past and temporarily she took me off my Bisoprolol which didn't really make any difference but nothing more than that.
Has anyone else had similar experiences with this post SCA and if so are there any insights and advice you can give me?
Thank you all...
Simon

Hi Simon, I'm sorry to hear about your SCA and ongoing dizzy spells. I don't really have an answer as to what could be causing the dizzy spells, however, there is a charity called sudden Cardiac Arrest UK, who also have a closed facebook group of the same name and you may find some answers there. Certainly you will find support there, they really are a very friendly, helpful group. Best wishes to you, I hope it can be sorted soon for you.
I do have appointment back with cardiology at the end of October but that is due the results of a 24hr monitor which showed periods of extra heartbeats and 2 events of my heart stopping upto 30secs but no, not for the dizzy spells.
Could you ask your GP to try for a more urgent appt, I do think the dizzy spells should be treated as a priority. When my husband had dizzy spells, he was seen within a couple of weeks!! Maybe phone the BHF nurses on this site for advice tomorrow?
Have a look at ' syncope'. Any passing out should be treated as a potential stroke unless proved otherwise. If it happens again ring your consultant. In the meantime drink lots of water, eat regular meals with salt, and take exercise. Do you take rampiril?
That's very true about potential stroke. When my husband passed out and was then suffering dizzyness he was immediately referred to hospital to see a stroke specialist, though was also on occasions slurring his words & suffering confusion, classic stroke symptoms.
Have a look at the leaflet in the box. One of the declared side effects of ramipril is dizziness. It takes about 12-13 hours to clear through the system. Have a chat with your consultant about taking it in the evening?
I spoke to my GP about my dizzy spells I'm 6 months post cardiac arrest and my GP says it's common to suffer Vertigo after a SCA I suffer with it terribly, I'm not on any medication at all,
Hi, just read your post from 10 months ago and wondered how you were coping with the dizziness now? I never realised it was a common thing after SCAs, my GP was treating it as something unrelated, just put it down to vertigo. Meds dont seem to work for anti dizziness and I noticed its also a side effect of my heart meds. I hope you are getting along ok with yours now?
