I have posted before about my diagnosis of very high blood pressure in March and later diagnosis of heart thickening ( concentric lvh) in May.I was wondering whether I will have regular echocardiograms to check on this.Does anyone have any experience of this to advise?

Heart thickening due to high bp
It's me again, I saw your question and wanted to reply. I have had echos on a regular basis since my diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and will continue to do so. I would ask your doctor this question, as I am not sure if they do regular echos for LVH and I am in the U.S., so I am sure medical is different between the two places. Wishing you the best!
Thanks Siouxbee19, I'm totally new to all this this year, with no immediate family history to go on so hopefully someone from the UK will see this.
I too have recently been told I have thickening of the heart lining alongside fluid around my heart, after a recent echo cardiogram. Having an MRI to review in couple of weeks. I have normal to low BP, with fast heart rate and supra ectopic ventricular episodes. Continuously collapsing if I stand or walk for more than 30/40 minutes. I find it's a nightmare getting answers, appointments or proper diagnosis from professionals. I feel my life is on hold currently.
Hi Dicky-ticker, apart from mild sclerosis of the aortic valve, mild thickening of the mitral valve the rest of my echo was normal. In fact she said I had 'no significant valvular pathology' despite reporting thickening. The GP is treating me now and seems to think findings were no big deal and the priority is to achieve good bp control but I have read that lvh and valve changes should be monitored.Sorry to hear about your limited mobility and hope they sort you out soon.
Hi I've just been diagnosed with LVH due to high blood pressure, gp has put me on ramipril
But hasn't suggested I need further tests, except blood test in 3 weeks..hows things with you on this side.. have you seen a cardiologist
I'm seeing a cardiologist in December.I still get burning sensations so the idea is to discuss changing meds with him.Plus I get palpitations which a 24 hour ECG said were SVTs.Generally things are OK and my BP is stable now.How are you getting on with ramipril?
Hi thanks for replying, I’ve only just got my medication today from my GP and he’s not mentioned anything about referring me to anyone else..
I’m to take the 1st tablet tomorrow, Fingers crossed I’ll be ok with them,
Hope all goes well with your cardiologist.
